Final Fantasy 14: Stormblood patch 4.2 trailer teases Final Fantasy 6 bosses

The next update for Final Fantasy 14: Stormblood, Rise of a New Sun, will release at the end of the month. A new trailer was released for it today, and Final Fantasy 6 players will be rather familiar with a couple segments.

Final Fantasy 14: Stormblood update 4.2: Rise of a New Sun will be released on January 30, and Square Enix has provided information on what players can expect.

Players will participate in the latest arc of the Omega raid series, explore two new dungeons, and come face-to-face with the first of the legendary Four Lords, Byakko, in a new trial.

The new Raid Dungeon, Omega: Sigmascape, features familiar faces from Final Fantasy 5 appearing previously, and today’s trailer shows the Sigmascape populated with features reminiscent of Final Fantasy 6.

Early on in the trailer, viewers get a look on of the Ghost Trains in the franchise, known as the Phantom Train in Final Fantasy 6. It first appeared in Final Fantasy 6 as a dungeon location and it's engine acted as a boss.

At the very end of the video, Kefka Palazzo is teased. He was the main antagonist of Final Fantasy 6, is prone to use one-liners, and is known for his sociopathic, high-pitched laughter.

Details on Kefka were not provided, but Square Enix did pass along a feature list for patch 4.2. We've posted it below.
