Destiny 2’s first cheese is in: get infinite ammo with this neat trick for the Inverted Spire strike

Destiny 2 won’t disappoint fans of all things Swiss.

The Destiny 2 beta has only been available for 12 hours and already someone’s found a terrific cheese in the Inverted Spire strike.

As redditor Dalgdawgydawg points out, the “Vex milk” that causes damage to players standing in it isn’t dangerous enough to counteract the effects of a Warlock’s Healing Rift buff.

That means you can stand there in complete safety while the Healing Rift is active, but because you’re technically taking damage, the Riskrunner perk will kick in over and over again, filling your ammo supplies. If three Warlocks were to chain their Healing Rifts together, one after another… you can see where this is going.

Betas aren’t just about testing network infrastructure, so we can probably expect Bungie to rebalance the damage or healing effect in the full release of Destiny 2 to prevent this very cheesy strategy.

But in the meantime, we can all enjoy redditor MahoneyBear‘s observation that the first Destiny 2 cheese was made with Vex milk. To be honest with you, the entire point of this article was pretty much to celebrate that comment, so go drop it an upvote.

Destiny was famous for the ongoing battle between community and Bungie over various cheese strategies like knocking Atheon off his platform, using Icebreaker’s infinite ammo to snipe bosses in total safety, and more. Destiny 2 will surely give rise to similar delights, and it’ll be inetresting to see whether Bungie is able to patch them up more quickly than last time now that it has fewer consoles to support.

The Invertes Spire is the only strike in the Destiny 2 beta, which also includes a story mission and a couple of PvP maps and modes. The beta is underway now for PS4 early access and comes to Xbox One tomorrow. The open Destiny 2 beta begins later this week.

Stay tuned for more news from the beta! As usual, we will spam you with Destiny 2 all day until you log off in justified disgust, because we don’t care about anything else.
