Microsoft won't hold a press conference at gamescom 2016

Microsoft has decided not to hold a gamescom 2016 press conference next month. Instead, it's opting for a more "intimate" setting for fans.

Dubbed the Xbox FanFest experience, those attending the Cologne event will be able to play upcoming titles slated for 2016 and 2017, across both Xbox and Windows 10.

So, plan on getting your hands on Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, Halo Wars 2, ReCore, Sea of Thieves, We Happy Few, Everspace and Cuphead if attending.

"While we will not be hosting a media briefing this year, we’re planning a new and more intimate Xbox FanFest experience for our fans across Europe and worldwide attending gamescom 2016," said Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg.

"We will be sharing more details on our gamescom 2016 Xbox FanFest soon."

Microsoft will still have a booth at the show which will be located this year in Hall 8 of the Koelnmesse near the north entrance. It will be open to attendees Thursday through Saturday.

Day one of the show, which takes place on a Wednesday, is always devoted to trade and press with the doors flung wide to the public the remainder of the week.
