South Park: The Stick of Truth won't use Uplay

South Park: The Stick of Truth won't require Ubisoft's PC client and DRM suite, UPlay.

The news comes direct from developer Obsidian Entertainment on Twitter, answering a user's query with a flat "No, Uplay will not be featured in SP:SOT."

Ulay is not precisely popular with PC gamers, especially when it is required for games otherwise available on digital storefronts; loading a game in Steam only to have to sit through Uplay loading and authenticating is just irritating enough to cause shaken fists.

The Ubisoft-published RPG is currently available for pre-order on PC through Steam, as well as via the PlayStation Network.

It releases digitally and in stores on March 4 in North America, March 6 in Australia and March 7 in Europe.

Thanks, Ausgamers.
