South Park: The Fractured But Whole was once subtitled The Butthole of Time

In the video, Matt and Trey discuss lessons learned from South Park: The Stick of Truth to make The Butthole of Time, er, The Fractured Butthole - sigh - The Fractured But Whole, a "much better game." The duo have been working with the team at Ubisoft Studio San Francisco for two years on the title, writing the dialogue, voicing the characters, and remaining deeply involved in its development.

The story in the upcoming game picks up where Stick of Truth left off, literally the very next day. As detailed at E3 2016, Cartman has big plans to create a franchise for his Coon and Friends superhero group. So as the New Kid, you will have to create your own superhero from the ground up, including his or her origin story.

While The Stick of Truth featured combat similar to JRPGs, this time out, it will be more tactical-based to provide more options when doing battle. Players will be able to move team members to different positions around the battlegrounds and some super powers can even move enemies to different sections in the area. And don't forget, your character has so much flatulence power that upon being release, it can rip a whole in the space-time continuum. Thus the whole, "Butthole of Time" thing.

The game will also be "significantly" longer with roughly twice the playtime of the first game, with the town and surrounding area much larger.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole launches for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on December 6. Those who pre-purchase the digital version will receive a free, digital copy of The Stick of Truth which can be download immediately.

Those who pre-order any of the physical editions of South Park: The Fractured But Whole – including the Collector's Edition, which features a limited-edition figurine of The Coon and other goodies – will find a code for a free, digital copy of South Park: The Stick of Truth inside the box.
