Wolfenstein dev not worried about "the business side of things"

Wolfenstein: The New Order developer MachineGames doesn't care if it's making the last Wolfenstein game ever made, so long as it's also the best one.

Speaking to Polygon, senior gameplay designer Andreas Öjerfors said MachineGames isn't thinking about the pressures of restoring the franchise.

"We don't really think like that," he said. "We love Wolfenstein, and we want to make the best Wolfenstein game there is - not just a great Wolfenstein game, but just a great game, as well. That's where our priorities lie.

"We don't think a whole lot about the business side of it. We think about, if we make a great game, people will like it, right? That's how we think. We're not business people, we make games. Bethesda and Zenimax can worry about the business side of it, but we have to make the game."

Bethesda is worrying about it, of course, with PR and marketing vice president Pete Hines explaining that the shooter was delayed so it can be good enough to stand alongside modern franchises.

"It needs to be the best Wolfenstein game ever made, and you can't shortcut that," he said.

Expect Wolfenstein: The New Order on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in 2014.
