Dramatic World in Conflict trailer introduces characters

World in Conflict: Soviet Assault is expected to land on UK shores March 13, and to help persuade you to go out and get it, Massive has released a new video.
GamersHell has it, and it’s pretty dramatic.
In the trailer, you get a glimpse of the main characters and just enough of the storyline to whet your appetite for the RTS.
The expansion boasts six new single-player missions, eight new multiplayer maps, and voice communication via the headset — just in case you haven’t been paying attention.

Ubisoft – World in Conflict: Soviet Assault no longer coming to consoles

The writing’s been on the wall for months, but only now has Ubisoft finally finished with the formalities and said, “Oh yeah – that.”
Speaking with IGN, a Ubisoft rep confirmed that the sparse console RTS landscape won’t be seeing Massive’s blip on the radar after all.
“World of Conflict: Soviet Assault will be released for the PC later this month. A console version of World in Conflict is not planned for release at this time,” the rep said.
Bummer. And Soviet Assault’s vocal controls seem pretty much tailor-made for consoles too. Shame, that.

World in Conflict: Soviet Assault trailer details RTS expansion

Ubisoft has released a new trailer of Massive’s World in Conflict: Soviet Assault. Watch it after the break.
Played from the Soviet perspective of World in Conflict’s fictional Hot War, the game offers six new single-player missions along with eight new multiplayer maps.
Like Tom Clancy’s EndWar, Soviet Assault allows you to call in reinforcements or new units by using context menus and voice communication via the headset.
The trailer’s narrated by Alec Baldwin and shows the 1989 alternate reality beginnings of World War III in Berlin.

World in Conflict expansion dated for March, consoles TBD
Ubisoft will publishe Massive Entertainment’s World in Conflict PC expansion pack dubbed Soviet Assault, writes Shacknews.
If you don’t yet own the game, there will be World in Conflict: Complete Edition which will include the expansion and some “new features.” This will be available at retail the same time as the expansion becomes available.
However, dates for console versions of the wartime strategy title weren’t mentioned, but two new screenshots were released.
You can see those after the break.

Acti-Bliz Massive sell-off could be “really interesting and positive,” says Polfeldt
World in Conflict developer Massive Entertainment may be up for sale, but VP David Polfeldt reckons it could be the best thing to happen to the firm.
“It’s exciting when you’ve been inside a publisher for six years, and we haven’t been really shopping for projects or investigating our network to see what’s out there,” he told VG247.
“It’s a very exciting world that suddenly opens up. If things work out this could well be a really, really interesting and positive move for Massive.”
Polfeldt continued, saying the critical acclaim of RTS World in Conflict has considerably eased the process of gaining interest from publishers.
“I mean, I remember trying to find publisher deals and it was just so incredibly hard that you’d kill yourself,” he said.
“And six years later you come back to market with a 90-plus game at your back and the situation is not as hard as it was ten years ago, for sure. That’s been quite a pleasant surprise.”

“Ghostbusters will be published,” says Randel
In wake of the recent news that Ghostbusters: The Videogame has been put out to tender, Terminal Reality boss Mark Randel told videogaming247 today that the game will be published.
“Ghostbusters will be published,” said Randel. “That’s all I can say at the moment.”
Ghostbusters wasn’t the only Sierra casualty of the Activision Blizzard merger, with 50 Cent, World in Conflict and Brütal Legend all having to find new publishers as a result of the deal.

Ghostbusters to be “put out to tender”: source
Speaking under conditions of anonymity, a UK source familiar with the situation surrounding the Activision Blizzard merger has confirmed that Ghostbusters has not been canned, and is to be put out to tender.
The game was assumed lost overnight when Activision confirmed that the only Vivendi games to make the transition in Acitivision Blizzard would be Crash Bandicoot, Ice Age, Spyro, Prototype and an as-yet unannounced property.
“I wouldn’t use the word ‘canned’ on Ghostbusters if I were you,” VG247 was told this morning. “It’s basically being put out to tender. Considering where it is in development, hopefully someone else will pick it.”
While the situation with Ghostbusters seems clear, there appears to be some confusion as to the state of play of other IPs such as World in Conflict and Wet.
“I guess that if there are Sierra games that aren’t mentioned in the Activision press release, then they’re part and parcel of the stuff that’s going out to tender, but I don’t know for sure,” said the source.
From the sound of it, the shit is most definitely hitting a lot of fans regarding Activision Blizzard today. More soon.

Console WiC moves to end of 2008
Vivendi’s confirmed that the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of RTS World in Conflict have been pushed into the “fall”. According to the company, the games are being reworked from the PC version, which hit last autumn, and will include new single-player and multiplayer content.
The new stuff’s going to be made available for PC gamers as well, as an add-on, at an unspecified date.
