Crytek posts job listing for Ryse multiplayer producer
Crytek has posted a job listing which states the Ryse team is looking for a multiplayer producer. A resume popped up last month stating the game was headed that direction, suggesting Ruffian was “contracted” to work on that end of the development. Neither Microsoft nor Crytek have said the game will be exclusively single-player, and a release date has yet to be etched in stone. Via Superannuation.

Ruffian: Nine underground levels in Crackdown 2
Ruffian has detailed to VG247 the first pieces of info of the underground element of Crackdown 2 at a hands-on in Dundee last month.
Creative director Billy Thomson told us that there would be nine subterranean levels in the sequel.
“If you take one of the locations for a gang boss in the first game, most of them are… let me think of one location that’d be a good size. The Refinery, probably,” said Thomson.
“A little bit smaller than the Refinery. And there’s, like, nine of them. It’s a big bit of gameplay.”
Microsoft refused to go into details though on specific kits for the underground segments.
No date yet, we’re afraid.
Catch our full interview with Thomson and James Cope of Ruffian here and here.

Crackdown 2 cracked open: first info inside!

Well, that didn’t take long. We told you about Game Informer’s earth-shattering Crackdown 2 exclusive, like, two posts ago, and now the dream has become a reality. The leaked details are as follows:
- Pacific City, as rumored, hasn’t changed too much. But then, there’s a good reason for that. With a viral outbreak ravaging the land, we imagine architects have opted to take a few sick days. Well, maybe not “opted,” per se, as mutant/zombification is rarely optional.
- Note, however, that Pacific City will be a different place. Instead of new buildings springing up, though, old locations will be in varying states of disarray thanks to the outbreak.
- The shambling (and possibly leaping) mutants won’t be your only foes, either. A new organization called “Cell” will also send its goons after you, and will function more like a gang from the Crackdown of yore.
- Four player co-op. Music to our ears.
- 16-player deathmatch with a “Call of Duty-style” progression system? djfnjewnfnjnmcksmv – Sorry, drool and keyboards don’t mix.
- Civilians haven’t given up hope in the face of armageddon. Expect to see Pacific City’s good citizens take up arms and participate in “dynamic events.”
- You’ll still earn points in the same five stats, but they’ll unlock more varied abilities.
Tons more through the links.

First Ruffian concept art is a big red monster

Dundee fledgling Ruffian has posted up a first piece of concept art on its site, and it’s… a red monster thing.
As Kotaku points out, this doesn’t exactly scream “Crackdown”. The developer is understood to be working on a revamp of the Realtime Worlds crime game for release in the coming year.
Maybe one of the artists was having a red monster day, or something. We’ll all know soon enough.

Dundee 360 developer working on “MMO” [Update]

Update: Sorry, we boo-booed here. This is a Realtime Worlds ad, and the game’s APB. It’s an old post that’s just been refreshed. We apologise for being so shit. Thanks, TheDifficult3rdAlbum.
A GI job ad posted by a Dundee developer has revealed the company is working on a 360 MMO.
“Our client is one of the World’s leading XBOX360 developers now working on an MMO which is likely to be a benchmark for online action games for next-Gen consoles,” says the ad, which could probably do with a bit of an edit.
Which company? Well, it’s either Realtime Worlds or Ruffian, unless there’s a secret console developer in Dundee. Which there isn’t.
An online Crackdown game? That’d be a shock.
