Lost Planet 3 is a prequel, so the rigs are quite different to the mechs seen in the previous two games. The comparatively primitive frames are designed for exploration and resource harvesting more than combat. Check out the lumbering machines in action in this Capcom Japan presentation, and watch our hero defend the rig from waves of enemy attacks while it toils away in platform drilling mode.

Capcom is heading to San Diego Comic-Con with a sackful of games this week, and will also be discussing plans for Mega Man’s 25th Anniversary at the show. Could a new title be in the works? It’s anyone’s guess.

Lost Planet 3 has received a new gameplay trailer care of Capcom and Spark Unlimited. It has nothing to do with Xbox One I’m afraid, but it’s still rammed full of action and big, stompy robots. You lot like that, right?
