Left 4 Dead 2 sells 2 million in two weeks, beats 1 million Live players

left4dead230

Valve just announced 2 million Left 4 Dead 2 sales in just two weeks at retail.

Sales-to-date are more than double those of the first game; the company claims the numbers will put the 360 and PC title up as “one of” the biggest games on the formats for November.

More than 1 million Gold Live subs have now played the shooter.

“Left 4 Dead 2 is off to a great start with strong support at retail and great reviews from the press,” said Valve marketing boss Doug Lombardi.

Valve: £6 million being spent for L4D2 campaign

left4dead28

Valve’s Doug Lombardi has revealed that, out of the $25 million being spent for the ad campaign for Left 4 Dead 2 worldwide, over $10 million will be used for the European ad campaign. Thats £6 million in sterling.

“$25m is being spent on the game’s launch globally. Half is set aside for Europe, with the lion’s share being spent on the UK release,” revealed Valve’s Doug Lombardi.

“Based on the strength of pre-orders, Left 4 Dead 2 will be the fastest-selling product in Valve’s history,” said the head of the studio Gabe Newell.

“Left 4 Dead 2 has consistently run at 300 per cent of Left 4 Dead’s numbers.”

The game is out on November 20 in the UK for the Xbox 360 and PC. Find more at MCV.

“Leaked” Left 4 Dead 2 campaigns confirmed by Achievement list, Valve

left4deada7

The rumor is rumor no more. The final pair of Left 4 Dead 2 campaigns – known as “Hard Rain” and “Dead Center” – are real. How do we know? Because Valve told us so.

“They’re legit,” Valve’s Doug Lombardi told VG247.

On top of that, the game’s Achievement list – recently rescued from a storage closet by Xbox360Achievements.org – lists the two new campaigns, along with a slew of other unannounced odds and ends. Standouts include the defibrilator, which probably brings allies back to life,  and the “bile bomb,” which both intrigues and disgusts us. In a good way.
