Rocket Knight sequel finally announced, has video

Climax has officially announced its much rumored and tentatively titled Rocket Knight, due early 2010 on Xbox Live, Steam and PSN.

It takes place 15 years after the last game, with Sparkster having moved away from Zephyros, the pigs have sided with the opossums to face-off with an army of wolves, and Axel Gear has become the new Rocket Knight.

Brilliant.

There’s a video of it posted past the break, courtesy of D’toid and GameTrailers.

BBFC rates first Silent Hill [Update]

silenthilla4

Update: Apparently this is a PSN release of the original PSone game. Thanks, deftangel.

The BBFC’s rated the first Silent Hill, which probably means we’re not that far off an official announcement of Climax’s rumoured Wii-make.

No platforms or developer are listed on the ratings board’s site.

Climax is thought to be developing the game for both Wii and PSP.

Thanks, Kotaku.

Rumour: Climax working on Silent Hill remake for Wii

silenthilllogo

VG247 understands that UK developer Climax is working on a Wii remake of an the first Silent Hill.

Konami has declined to comment on the talk.

Few specifics are known as yet, but apparently motion control’s been included for torch functions.

The first Silent Hill, designed by Keiichiro Toyama, was released for PlayStation in 1999.

Climax is working on two Konami games, as shown on the firm’s website. The remake is the Wii and PSP project you can see there.

A 360 and PS3 game is also in the works for Konami, but this is an “original ground breaking next-gen game,” according to a Climax job posting.

Climax was unavailable for comment at the time of writing. You didn’t see us here, right?

Codemasters – There is no unannounced Climax game in the works

climaxlogoa

Remember the “unannounced title for Codemasters” Climax was hiring for on its site earlier this week? Codemasters doesn’t.

“We don’t have any unannounced titles we’re working on with Climax, only the previously announced Overlord: Dark Legend on Wii and Overlord: Minions on DS,” a rep told us today.

Climax is still carrying a job posting on its site saying it has the mysterious game in the works, as well as a “stunning and refreshing take on the horror genre and our original ground breaking next-gen game for the PS3 and the Xbox 360.”

We’re waiting for Climax to get back to us on this, but it looks as though someone may have put some old copy up on the site.

Glad that’s cleared up.

Climax working on “stunning and refreshing take on the horror genre”

silenthilla3

A jobs listing on the Climax site has revealed that Climax is working on “an unannounced title for Codemasters as well as our stunning and refreshing take on the horror genre and our original ground breaking next-gen game for the PS3 and the Xbox 360.”

Looking at the site’s front page shows that two games – one for Wii and PSP and one for 360 and PS3 – are both in the works for Konami.

No one seems to know what the secret games are. They wouldn’t be a secret otherwise, would they?

We’re checking now. Thanks, GAF and Destructoid.

Climax closure affects “two staff members”

The Climax Kingston studio closure – previously reported – only affects two staff members, Climax boss Karl Jeffery has told GI.

“We finished the last game project in Kingston over a year ago as reported at that time. This week we finally vacated the office space as our lease ended. The only people affected are a receptionist and an IT guy,” he said.

Jeffrey said that the plan has long been to reduce the company to one studio in one location. “It makes things a lot easier,” he said.

Climax closes Kingston Studio

So says this. The outfit was focussed on handheld games, but had apparently been running on a skeleton staff for several months. The remaining employees have been made redundant, according to that report. Climax is now left with just one studio, the main office in Portsmouth, having also closed its LA operation last year.
