During the City of Heroes panel at Comic-Con, Paragon Studios’ lead game designers Melissa Bianco and Matt Miller along with art lead David Nakayama, development producer Nate Birkholz and community manager Andy Belford chatted with attendees about the MMO going free-to-play, and going under the new name City of Heroes: Freedom.

NCSoft’s announced it’s to show brand new content for City of Heroes, including the first chance to play the new IIncarnate Raids in the MMO. It’ll also be showing Guild Wars 2′s Engineer class as well during the event. There’ll also be a meet-and-greet with the NCSoft massive in San Diego this week. All of this will be a taster before the main course is served in Cologne at gamescom in three-and-a-half weeks.

NCsoft has announced City of Heroes will be going free-to-play later this year, and the MMO’s name will be changed to City of Heroes Freedom.

NCsoft’s announced a ton of in-game Hallowe’en events for its MMOs, bringing seasonal quests, costumes and contests across across Aion, City of Heroes, Guild Wars, Lineage, Lineage II and Exteel.

Loads of MMOs are planning Halloween and fall festivities for users, but some have already launched tricky goodness.
You can find out more about those past the break, but while you are headed that way you will also learn other sorts of stuff like: Legends of Norrath’s eighth expansion has launched, CrimeCraft is headed to iPhone and Facebook, and having gone free-to-play D&D Online is doing great, apparently.
Also, Star War Galaxies is overrun with zombies. That’s right. Zombies.

Massively is giving away Beta keys to Star Trek Online, Aion dropped GameGuard and launched its first server, Pirates are everywhere, and Sony is giving you double station cash this weekend.
There is also news concerning Champions Online, EVE, Guild Wars 2, EverQuest, Warhammer, Runes of Magic, and loads of other stuff you can find here instead of searching everywhere.

Loads of stuff happened this week with MMOs. Bethesda laughed off an Elder Scrolls MMO, APB started the Beta application process, Aion released pretty trailers, Star Wars will be playable at GamesCom and all other sorts of interesting things happened.
What we didn’t tell you about was that Lord of the Rings Online got some new jewelry and bounty quests in Esteldin, Funcom will announce Conan stuff at PAX, and there were some rumored leaks on the upcoming WoW expansion posted all over God’s green earth.
