Restore points disabled in Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow on Virtual Console

Fans looking forward to the release of Virtual Console titles Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow will be interested to know the games won't support restore points

Restore points allows the player to pause their game to save progress at any given point, has is available through all other Game Boy titles released through Virtual Console.

Instead with Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow, players will only be able to save using the stock 3DS save system. This is also the case with Pokemon Green in Japan.

According to what Serebii.net found when poking (see what I did there?) around the Japanese digital game manuals, the save backup option has also been disabled along with access to the Virtual Console and 3DS Home menus when using the Battle or Trade features.

Nintendo Life reckons the disabling of these features has something to do with preventing exploits and duplicating Pokemon by messing with save files.

The 1998 classic Pokemon titles will arrive on the eShop February 27.

A New 3DS bundle featuring all three titles will release on the same day.
