The Legend of Zelda co-director would like to see a female live-action Link

In an interview with MTV, Legend of Zelda co-director Takashi Tezuka has said that if a Zelda movie was ever made, he'd like to see Link played by a "boyish female actress".

Tezuka says that a female Link would be "very fun and awesome".

Both Tezuka and legendary designer Shigeru Miyamoto struggle to name a specific actor choice for Link in the video.

"I only know Japanese actors", Miyamoto says with a smile. "This is something I never imagined because Link looks very different to how a Japanese person looks".

This is not the first time the idea of a female Link has popped up. It's rumoured that a female Link may pop up in Hyrule Warriors Legends. In The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes, it will be possible to make Link wear a dress.

Following the release of Zelda Wii U trailer, there was speculation that it may feature a female Link, although this was later denied by Nintendo.

Miyamoto and Tezuka also talk about the Super Mario Bros movie in the video, if that interests you.
