Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus remake in the works

Oddworld: New 'N' Tasty wasn't the end of Just Add Water's adventures in HD re-releases.

Oddworld Inhabitants boss Lorne Lanning has confirmed that an Abe's Exoddus remake is in the works.

Speaking to Twitch viewers, Lanning said fans requested Abe's Exoddus as the next game after New 'N' Tasty, which was a remake of Abe's Oddyssey, the first entry in the series.

Lanning said that Exoddus's success would contribute significantly to the quality of future titles, and that it will be marketed more broadly than New 'N' Tasty.

The project is still in the very early stages, so there are no further details to share at present.

Abe's Exoddus was the second game released under the Oddworld brand, and was a sort of bonus entry in the series - it wasn't included in Oddworld Inhabitants' original plan to create five titles set in a shared universe.

The original Abe's Oddysey was so beloved that Exoddus was produced to satisfy rampant demand for more of the same. (Incidentally, Stranger's Wrath was also not part of the original plan; only two of the five titles made it to market.)

Oddworld Inhabitants fell silent after the release of Munch's Oddysey, but now has many grand plans for the series, including the rest of the originally projected games as well as several spin-offs.
