From Software's PSone game Shadow Tower coming to PSN

Shadow Tower, the first-person action-RPG developed for the original PlayStation by From Software, will be released on PlayStation Network.

In the 1998 title, players took on the role of a mercenary who has returned home to the Holy Land of Zeptar to find the place has been sucked into the Underworld.

He must use the Dark One's sword to defeat the demons which caused the catastrophe and rescue the woman who raised him in the process.

The game doesn't contain XP, but the more monsters the player kills, the more powerful the character becomes. Armor will also need to be repaired or replaced as it will wear over time.

A sequel to the game, Shadow Tower Abyss, was released exclusively in Japan on PlayStation 2 in 2003.

The series is rather dark, and a precursor to the even darker Souls series and Bloodborne. It also has many similarities to From Sopatware's King's Field series, the atmosphere of which is just as brooding.

A release date for Shadow Tower for Europe - or even if it will be released in the region - was not provided in the PS Blogcast but it will be released on PSN for PlayStation 3, PSP and Vita in North America next week.
