Re-imagining of 1979's Asteroids in the works titled Asteroids: Outpost

Asteroids: Outpost has been announced for PC by Atari, as a re-imagining of 1979 arcade shooter.

Players will take on the role of a deep space miner struggling for survival in an asteroid belt.

Asteroids: Outpost is an open world, sandbox title with survival elements tasking the player to mine, build and "defend their base" as they amass a fortune.

Players will need to explore the asteroid they are on, collect resources, scavenge for ore, craft equipment, and expand their territory as they build bases.

They will also need to form alliances and fight off other players in multiplayer.

In development at Salty Games, Asteroids: Outpost will be made available on PC.
