Mortal Kombat X is getting a prequel comic book in 2015

Mortal Kombat X' story will be an integral part of the game, so much so that DC Comics has announced a comic book that will serve as a prequel to the game's story.

The new comic was announced on the weekend during a New York Comic-Con presentation. DC announced that the comic book is simply titled Mortal Kombat X, and will feature many "favourite characters" from the series and some of "the next generation of Kombatants."

The comic book is written by Shawn Kittelsen, with art from Dexter Soy and covers by Ivan Reis. The first issue is pegged for a Janurary 2015 release.

We've also got two images of the upcoming comic book below.

Mortal Kombat X is out April 2015 for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
