Soul Calibur: Unbreakable Soul, the free-to-play card fighter, is out today on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Publisher Namco Bandai has sent us some a launch trailer, screens and details.

Thanks MMOhunter.

In a press release sent to VG247 today, Namco confirmed that the card-based fighter will offer a one-touch combat system presented in the series’ traditional 3D combat style.

It uses a deck of cards to play out quick battles, and it comes with a narrative-driven story mode featuring some 150 avatars, including returning Soul Calibur regulars.

There’s also a collection of over 200 weapons that can be forged and imbued with fire, water, wind, light and dark properties to create a strong weapon deck. Once you have a solid hand, you can take the fight to others in ranked PVP mode.

You can download Soul Calibur: Unbreakable Soul on iTunes for free now, and we’ve got some promo screens below.

Don’t even bother with this unless you want to fall asleep. You literally can just press any random card in any random order and still win (Just like that button mashing relative.) I got Sophitia from one a pack which I bought with the free gems, but apparently I couldn’t use her since I had no weapons which are randomly given out in weapon packs.

When Lost Swords came out I was excited, but got loading screen simulator 2014 so I went out and got V (which is kinda pants.) Knew I should have gotten 2 HD.

I am never going to play this game.

I finally played Lost Swords last night, and while it’s a pretty good experience for something I can play for free, the load times are ridiculous and annoying. The pay for chests scheme is also absurdly overpriced even by microtransaction standards. $20 for six chests? Really? Namco expects people to pay $3-5 for a single weapon or piece of clothing when other developers are perfectly capable of releasing completely new experiences that last an hour or two AND come with at least one new costume for the same price or a little more.
