Rock Band and Dance Central are "near and dear" to Harmonix, may come back "at some point"

Those hoping Harmonix would eventually revisit Rock Band and Dance Central may eventually get their wish. Like the old man on the cart in Monty Python's Holy Grail, the franchises aren't quite dead just yet.

Speaking during a talk at PAX East, CEO Alex Rigopulos said both franchises are "near and dear" Harmonix, and both will come back "at some point".

"[The Rock Band and Dance Central franchises] are near and dear to our hearts and our minds," Rigopulos said as reported by Gamespot. "And we have grand plans to bring back both of them with guns blazing at some point in the coming console cycle."

Rigopulos was reiterating the same thing he said last summer, when he said Harmonix didn't view Rock Band "as something that’s being left behind... it's something we’ll return to at the right point in time and re-imagine it as appropriate for its time."

While not confirmed or anything, there's still reason to hold out hope: console cycles tend to last for 10 years or so.
