Nintendo revealed in its financial statement earlier today 2DS has sold 2.1 million units since it launched back in October 2013.

The firm also revealed lifetime unit sales for 3DS which has shipped 42.7 million units since 2011, and the entire family of DS systems has shipped 154 million units.

One of the software highlights noted was Animal Crossing: New Leaf, which has sold 7.38 million units worldwide since it launched in November 2012 elusively in Japan.

The title finally reached western shores in June 2013, and from April 31 through December 31, the title sold 2.79 million copies.

43 million shipped roughly 4 years later, okay i think i see the 3DS getting to PSP numbers. This would be 80 million+ and i think this because 2013 was its peak year with Pokemon, Fire Emblem, Zelda, 2DS and others where it should have sold better than it did.

I do think the rise of smartphones has had an impact going from the monster DS numbers to PSP like 3DS numbers and 3DS like PSP numbers to atrocious PS Vita numbers.
