War Thunder PS4: watch us take the free plane shooter for a spin

Wednesday, 18th December 2013 15:59 GMT By Dave Cook

War Thunder is free right now on PS4, but we’re guessing that not everyone has given it a shot yet. VG247′s Sam Clay has taken to the skies in Gaijin Entertainment’s air combat title, to show you just what all the fuss is about.

The emphasis here is on the whole being 100% free thing. There’s nothing stopping you from downloading it and giving it a whirl, but will you want to stay? Well, in the video above Sam looks at Gaijin’s monetisation, the content on offer for free and of course, the gameplay itself.

Is War Thunder worth downloading? Have a look at the clip and be the judge.

Nice video, Sam. I wonder if this is what Disney is aiming for with their Attack Squadrons…?!

Very nice game been playing on PC, the open beta is extremely promising, i can confirm that you don’t need to pay in order to win or something close, nearly all planes are unlockable freely.

nevertheless without paying the progression may seems a little slow :), and the number of plane per country is quite restricted compared to it’s wargaming counterpart, I assume that since it’s an open beta a lot of planes will be added on the official launch.

Sam is full of win. More Sam please.

I have forgiven him for sounding like that self-absorbed ass Alan Davies.

This is a great video. I just hope this doesn’t get content ID’d. I’m not even joking about it lol.

C’mon, seriously, that’s the best you can do for a test.
Why the hell are all Brits trying to be David Brent from the office.
