PS4 system software version 1.51 available today

PlayStation 4’s first mandatory, post-launch system software update drops today.

According to the PlayStation Blog, version 1.51 is a minor update, but has a number of effects, including improvements to system stability.

There is one meaningful change to the UI, though; it will now show when you’re downloading a game and attendant patch at the same time. Golly.

North American PS4 consoles ship with automatic downloads switched on by default, so the console should retrieve the update while waiting in stand-by mode.

The PS4 arrived in North America last week and sold through 1 million units almost immediately. It has experienced some hardware teething troubles, but Sony is exchanging all affected units.
