PS4 digital user manual online now, console won’t support 3D Blu-Ray at launch

Wednesday, 13th November 2013 12:28 GMT By Dave Cook

PlayStation 4′s official manual has gone live in digital form, and you can read it in full here.

The guide can be found on Sony’s official PS4 manual site.

It covers everything, including the light indicators on the front of the console. Interestingly, a red light isn’t good. According to the manual it means, “The PS4 system is overheating. Turn off the system, and wait until later to use it.” The manual also covers how to set up the unit, firmware settings like parental controls and how to set up your PSN account.

The games section focuses on installation, downloading new titles, moving saves around and the all-new trophy lists. Sony also details the method used to record and share gameplay footage and screens online.

PS4 will launch this Friday in the States, and as always we have tons of juicy content lined up for you. It’s out November 29 in the UK and Europe.

Are you getting one at launch?

You guys said PS4 DID support 3D bluray from launch? Where did that info come from?

It supports it after a day one patch, according to everything Sony has said recently. It doesn’t support it without that patch, which is why I guess there’s this confusion.

Regular Blu-ray is day one patch, not sure 3D Bluray is. If true this would actually support the point Sony made that they have been concentrating on gaming features over media ones for launch. A media feature they benefit from themselves isn’t there yet.

“The PS4 system is overheating. Turn off the system, and wait until later to use it.”

So wait a second, this is something that happens enough to warrent a built in warning? I could understand if it says to get it serviced, but to just turn it off and wait to play again.. eek.
