PlayStation 4 launch day update 1.50 detailed alongside free PlayStation App

Friday, 25th October 2013 16:03 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Sony has announced that it will release system software update version 1.50 for PlayStation 4 simultaneously with the official North American launch of the system on November 15. PlayStation App, a new application for mobile devices, will also be released on November 13 in North America, and on November 22 in Europe free of charge.

PlayStation 4 update 1.50

By updating, users will be able experience a variety of new features in addition to the basic functions of PS4.

The following features are available on PS4 during the North American launch and is approximately 300 MB in size:

Remote Play: Users will be able to access PS4 titles displayed on their living room TVs and play them on a PS Vita system over Wi-Fi networks by using PS4 Link (Depending on network environment or titles, remote play performance may vary outside of the home). We anticipate that most PS4 titles will be playable on the PS Vita system through Remote Play. The latest PS Vita system software version, to be released soon, will be required to use PS4 Link.

Second Screen: Users can use the PS4 Link application for the PS Vita system, and PlayStation App for iPhone, iPad, and Android-based smartphones and tablets, to use these devices as second screens in supported titles. PlayStation App has the ability to enable users to interact with games with their mobiles devices. For example on The Playroom, a title pre-installed in all PS4 systems that requires PlayStation Camera, users can draw pictures on their mobile device screens and flick them towards the TV. The images then appear as a 3D object within the game.

Record, take screenshots, and upload gameplay effortlessly: The PS4 system provides dedicated, “always on” video encoding systems that enables seamless uploading of gameplay. Users can share their epic triumphs by simply hitting the Share button on DualShock 4, take screenshots or scan through the last 15 minutes of gameplay, tag it and return to the game – the video uploads as the user plays. At the PS4 system’s launch, users will be able to share their images and videos with friends on Facebook and screenshots with followers on Twitter, though users will need to sign up for individual accounts to use Facebook and Twitter.

Broadcast and spectate gameplay: The PS4 system also enhances social spectating by enabling users to broadcast their gameplay in real-time to game fans around the globe, using Ustream and Twitch live internet streaming services (users will need to sign up for individual accounts to use Ustream and Twitch). There are two ways for users to view live broadcasts. First, the Live from PlayStation application on PS4 aggregates streams from all PlayStation users. Second, users can spectate friends’ PS4 gameplay from PCs, and applications such as Ustream, Twitch, and browsers, which are installed on their mobile devices. These applications can be easily started up via PlayStation App, and users can also use these applications to post comments to gameplay broadcasts. Furthermore, users with PlayStation Camera can stream camera images and microphone sounds along with their live gameplay broadcast.

Play as you download: This feature enables users to play supported digital titles as they are being downloaded. The time it takes to begin playing will vary depending on game data size and network environments, and not all titles will support this feature When a game is purchased, users can start playing after PS4 downloads a portion of the data, while the rest of the game is downloaded in the background during actual gameplay. Games may be downloaded in stand-by mode.

Multi log-in: A maximum of four users can log-in to a single PS4 system simultaneously. These players can use their own save data to play games, and also earn trophies on their own Sony Entertainment Network accounts even when playing a multiplayer game together on a single PS4 system.

Party (Voice chat): By using the Mono Headset bundled with the PS4 system, users will be able to chat with up to eight friends enjoying different applications or games. Furthermore, users can use Party to chat between PS4 and PS Vita systems.

Face recognition and voice commands: Users with PlayStation Camera will be able to register their facial image onto their PS4 system, and login to their system using facial recognition instead of DualShock 4. Furthermore, users can use either the microphone of the Mono Head set connected to DualShock 4, or PlayStation Camera to navigate through the PS4 home screen (PlayStation Dynamic Menu) with voice commands to start up games and shutdown the system, among other features; please refer to PS4′s online manual for recognizable voice commands.

Background music player: Users can enjoy gameplay while listening to music in the background with Music Unlimited, a cloud-based digital music service. Users can also voice chat with friends while listening to music. Learn more about Music Unlimited here (LINK: http://www.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/music-unlimited/why-music-unlimited/).

Online Multiplayer: PlayStation Plus members will be able to play PS4 titles online with other players via the network. PS Plus makes it easy for members to join available online multiplayer matches in a variety of ways, including the ability to easily join a game from a live stream broadcast or Party voice chats.

Blu-ray Disc and DVD player: Users can enjoy not only gaming on their PS4 system, but also Blu-ray and DVD video contents. When using for the first time, users must connect to the internet to activate this feature.

PlayStation App

The app will be made available on various mobile devices, such as iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Android based smartphones and tablets, from the App Store and Google Play.

Once installed, these devices can be used as second screens in supported PS4 titles, and allows the user to access PSN features such as Friend Lists and Trophies.

Users will be able to exchange messages with members of their Friends List, and browse through news and information on the official PlayStation website.

The following features are available on PlayStation App:

Directly access various PSN features and information: Users can access their own profile screen; access/compare their own and friends’ Trophy accomplishments; Exchange messages between PS4 systems, PS3, Vita and mobile devices installed with PlayStation App.

Access and filter friend profiles: Notify users about their friends’ shared activities on “What’s New”; Notify PS4 users when they receive any new notifications or game invitations. Users can also display their lists of game items.

Browse the official PlayStation website:: Users can access the PlayStationofficial website to browse through news, blogs and game information. The language and content of the website will depend on the country the user’s Sony Entertainment Network account is registered.

PS4 Second Screen Feature: Users can install PlayStation App on to their mobile devices to use as a second screen in supported games. For example on THE PLAYROOM, a title pre-installed in all PS4 systems that requires PlayStation®Camera, users can draw pictures on their mobile device screens and flick them towards the TV. The images then appear as a 3D object within the game.

Spectate other PS4 users’ gameplay: When users’ friends upload or begin live streaming their gameplay on PS4 systems, the friends’ activities are displayed on “What’s New” of the PlayStation App screen. When users tap on this notification, they can boot pre-installed applications, such as browsers, to spectate the uploaded gameplay. Users can also post comments on gameplay screenshots, footage and live streams.

Purchase game content on PlayStation Store: Users can purchase game content while away from home and download it directly onto their PS4, PS3, and PS Vita systems.

Use a mobile device as a simple remote to control the PS4 system: Once installed, users can use their PlayStation App to control their PS4 system as long as both devices have access to the same Wi-Fi access point. For example, users can switch their PS4 system to standby mode, startup their PS4 system from standby mode, and use their mobile phone as a keyboard for their PS4 system.

PS4 launches on November 15 in North America and November 29 in Europe.

Over on a forum I frequent on the 23rd I wrote:

‘All PS4s do not have a UI. They have a downloader which will DL the UI upon connection to the internet’

    I thought I was joking.

Wait, I’m confused. So none of the features listed in the article are available without the day one patch; i.e. watching bluray or DVD movies, multi-logins, or the music player? Or did they not specify what’s in the patch, and this is just a list of general ps4 features?

I can understand all the online specific functions (gotta go online anyways to use that stuff) but playing bluray movies? That’s weird.

@3 “Blu-ray Disc and DVD player…users must connect to the internet to activate this feature.” – Agreed. That’s…weird.

It says that you “must be connected to the internet”??
What about the people who have no internet connection?
    The military??
Sony is basically screwing all those people.

They can stick with their DualCock4 n GayStation4.

Isn’t there still a cost associated with that (to manufacturers)? So by tracking users who activate they can reduce the cost they have to pay.

  7. Neroist

The reason you must activate online the Blu-ray player is becuase of the region lock on Blu-rays. While the PS4 is not region locked once you activate your blu-ray it must have a region number to work with the DRM that is on them.

@6 You like to talk about phalli, is there something you’d like to share with the group?
At least out of the box a PS4 will be able to play disc based games for more than 24 hours before HAVING to connect to the internet.
Basic functionality for games playing will be there.

The system does the basic stuff right out of the box. You can play video games. The other stuff, with excepion of watching movies, requires internet. So, if you are in the military and has no internet, you are screwed regardless if you have a patch or not.

This isn’t an attack at our military volunteers but on the government. if you have time to play games, then the government is wasting tax money. Then again, when isn’t the government wasting money?

The applications on the ps4 look awesome. It is a huge upgrade on what the ps3 has to offer.

Didn’t Sony say internet connection wasn’t needed for the PS4? Why are they flip-flopping and doing a 180 on this. Everyone complained when the XBox One had to do a Day One patch, now Sony has to do one too and everyone is fine with this. Hilarious.

Looks like Sony is trying to play catch up at the last minute to have the same features Microsoft already has in their system on Day One.

That’s crazy. So without this patch, PS4 owners can’t play Blu-Ray or DVD’s? What if gamers don’t have a broadband or internet connect? Sony said they didn’t need it at the E3. Remember? LOL!! Looks like Sony is already starting to lie.

    #13 11 months ago
  14. Phoenixblight

    @14

seriously? You don’t need internet to play games the reason why it needs the internet for the DVD and Blu-ray player are pointed out on 7 and 8.

You can bet the same will be true for the Xbox One.

Xanderzane, sir, I think that you forgot that after the 180s microsoft pulled, they said the system “requires” a day one patch.

  17. bradk825

@14, yeah, the Blu Ray and DVD watching is what I would consider a basic feature. There’s definately going to be some “What the fuck??” over this. Especially for those who don’t follow gaming news and just plug the thing in and can’t watch a movie on it.

The big fuss is because Sony’s post E3 marketing was all about Microsoft, pointing fingers at them for requiring cutomers to go online, and they are now, just weeks from launch, doing a very similar thing.

I know it’s not the same thing, I know you can play games, that’s not the point. The point is they’ve been acting like King Shit over not doing things that MS did, and the pointed fingers over making customers connect to the internet, now it turns out that extremely basic features are not include in the box and you have to connect to the internet.

It’s a pretty classless way to do business, as a gamer I am part of their target market and they continue to offend me like they have since E3.

They made their marketing message all about the competition, I hate that when any company does it.
They lied to Jimmy on the air about being the “only system that let’s you trade games.”
They continued proding long after the policy reversal.
They didn’t dump Foxconn when they found out about the borderline slavery and even defended them.
Now they are telling you that despite what they said before, you have to connect to the internet to enable features THIS basic.

It just pisses me off that they operate this way. I would eventually like to have both consoles so I don’t miss any exclusives but they are making it hard for me to feel like supporting their business.

    #25 11 months ago
  26. Junior

I am wondering how are you a lot of people were able to get on the internet to complain about a patch. you seem to care too much about other people lacking Internet. there are worse social injustices, you know.

    #26 11 months ago
  27. Eregol

@20 Yeah, so, no, not been under a rock.
The update for DVD and BR playback is a bit of a dick move on Sony’s part though. Most Blu Ray players require some sort of firmware update early doors these days, but if you’re going to put a BD in there you really should have it configured to the region you’re launching in.

    #27 11 months ago
  28. zinc

It just wouldn’t be a Playstation without a day one patch… Followed by a week one patch.. And a bi-monthly patch…

    #28 11 months ago
  29. Phoenixblight

    @30

Not really. DVD and Bluray sales have been diving with Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon Prime. If you are buying a system especially in todays age without internet connection you are stripping features from device. Xbox One in its original state and still today would be a brick without internet. THis is not the same thing. You can just grab a flash drive go to the nearest library or friend and download the patch and the problem is fixed. You couldn’t do that with the Xbox One in its original form.

I would have to question the person’s decision that are getting a PS4 and Xbox One without even dial up or a nearby internet hub just to download a patch via the PS4 or flash drive.

    #29 11 months ago
  30. XanderZane

@#15 The difference is Microsoft informed everyone BEFORE the preorders even started. Sony lied and said you would NEVER need an internet connection unless you wanted to play games online. Did we forget about that?

@#17 Yes, we already knew that a long time ago. Microsoft told everyone they would need an internet connect, which is why they were getting bashed. Sony on the other hand said, you would never need an internet connect. One company lied and one didn’t. What if I wanted to do remote play?

It’s funny how people are damage controlling this, but when M$ said a patch was needed, the shit hit the fan. lol!! There were a lot of gamers who RAN to the PS4 because internet wasn’t needed and Sony said it wasn’t. Now, out of the blue, they tell you it IS needed. Sony 180′s is everything is peachy. What a joke. I definitely seems like the PS4 is being rushed if all of these features aren’t already activated on the box.

    #30 11 months ago
  31. XanderZane

@#29 You do know that people work right? They have access to the internet as well. lol!! There were a LOT of people bitching about XB1 having to access internet when all of them who were bitching about it have a broadband ISP. lol!! It works both ways son.

I am just happy i don’t have to wait months after a Japanese launch to have it come to America and have to pay $600.

Let’s face it, compared to ps2, the ps3 sucked (i still love the ps brand). Now we don’t have a system that is underpowered out of the box and overpriced.

    #32 11 months ago
  33. DGOJG

I’m pretty sure this is just to stop people and retailers from breaking the street date. Sounds like an unlock rather than a download of those features; especially at such a low amount of data.

    #33 11 months ago
  34. Phoenixblight

    @34

People didn’t run to the PS4 because internet wasn’t needed they ran to the PS4 because there was no 24 and hourly checks when Internet is not stable enough. More than one occasion my internet has gone out for more than a day so that would essentially have bricked the Xbox One. This is not the same thing here.

Sony had also said there will be a day one patch. SO there is no “hiding” ANd its quite funny the people that have been for the Xbox One are the ones pointing out this “180″.

    #34 11 months ago
  35. Junior

People weren’t complaining about requiring internet on x1. They were complaining that it required everyday or the system would not work at all. On top of that, games were expected to be the same price as now and be untradeable.

I actually like how sony got completely screwed by microsoft last gen. We are seeing amazing discounts on games with ps+. Let us hope microsoft screws sony a little more.

    1) Sony aren’t the first to delay a game close to launch
    2) Removal of Linux was in response to people hacking consoles and piracy. Smart move to remove it
    3) Headset issue was reported with plenty of time to go and is being patched. A headset comes with the PS4, good temporary solution.

That sort of behaviour isn’t exclusive to Sony as you make it seem, MS delayed Kinect Sports Rivals for Xbox One now there is no showcase by them at launch.

They told you its going to be delayed through proper channels, they didn’t wait until launch: Waited until the end? Screwed them? If delaying a game for a better product is screwing the consumer nope silly logic, cancel the preorder and wait until Driveclub launches.

Because dicks belong to men, and if you like dicks and are a man your’re gay, and thats a bad thing, also see “Gaystation” up there. Yeah, its just old fashioned homophobia.

@67 – yeah, it’s probably the same guy different accounts. If not, they need counseling and realize that they don’t need to hide what they are.
They are reminding me of Garrison from South park before he came out.

Anyway, I guess it’s the way of the world these days, internet devices manufactured and then needing a latest patch, hardly unexpected. I didn’t expect the internet required for blu-ray/DVD at first but the reason why noted in the comments makes sense.

It is amazing all Sony has accomplished though, the patch notes and what it gives you is a pretty cool list. it makes me definitely want a vita for my PS4.

I loved XBL for the party chat, and it’s great Sony caught up to MS there. All around It seems the PS4 is not really lacking anything MS has regarding XBL that I have gotten used to. With the new controller, I feel more confident that I’ll like it where I didnt care for the previous Sony controllers.

If Sony had let us use our own Bluetooth headsets, I would have been a happy man. I was surprised thet they won’t have that functionality, hopefully in the future. I think it’s stupid MS refused to place bluettooth in the Xbone. Even the cheapest phones have it and I just bought a USB Bluetooth adapter for $10

    #62 11 months ago
  63. lexph3re

What if when they say Gaystation they just mean “Happy Station”. Like wouldn’t it be awesome if there were no overbearing undertones to their meaning that it would be interpreted in a positive manner.

Oh well to bad it’s is indeed homophobic rhetorics

  64. Dragon

    ^Biased much?
Dont see you making jokes on MS. And you have a problem with people stating PS4 will outsell X1, offering snarky responses and then running away without stating anything, probably since you know you will be wrong if you do.
    Follows a trend…

@77 To be honest, the only one I’ve seen mention Xbone is you

    #65 11 months ago

Just because Bone is a euphemism for penis doesn’t mean that everyone is using it for that purpose.
You have been deliberately using more direct references.

    #66 11 months ago
  67. Eregol

And who said the word gay exactly?

    #67 11 months ago
  68. XanderZane

@#39 – Sony never said there would be a patch for the PS4 after it launches. You’re thinking of Microsoft. M$ said there would be a patch for the XB1 during setup before you could use it. Everyone had a fit about it. Like the apocolypse was about to occur. lol!! Sony said internet would only be needed to play multiplayer online or use certain apps, PS Store, Netflix, etc..

@#49 – The Blu-Ray/DVD movies are suppose to be region locked. Only the Blu-Ray games aren’t regionally locked. Same with the XB1. So yes, I would rather my PS4 play Blu-Ray/DVD movies without having to patch it. The military gamers will have to wait for a Sony published game that contains the patch upgrade or find a free WiFi connection some where so they can patch their PS4.

@88, calling cunts “cunts” is acceptable.

    #71 11 months ago

I really think you need the word cunt to survive on the internet.

I guess you could use douchebag, fucknozzle or fuckwit, but cunt is like the perfect umbrella for the nozzles and wits and bags and twits of the web.

I’ve skimmed over this, but can someone explain if I’m wrong.

It looks like its mandatory to do an update for all the features that were promised? Why aren’t these features available pre-installed on the system?

Wii U did this but I thought it was because Nintendo fucked up? And MS is because of DRM etc… But features like Bluray and remote play? Surely they are ready to go?

You do realize XBone is not a dick joke right? It’s even an registered official domain for Xbox one. The only person bent out of shape about it’s name would be you.

And, Bone can mean a structural placement of an organic being. Boner can be used as a derogative way of describing an erection. Soooo unless someone call it Xboner… I don’t see how you can get a dick joke just from Xbone.

    #74 11 months ago
  75. lexph3re

@91 a few people already stated that it may have something to do with the blurays region registration. Other then that it’s all pre-requisites at the end of the day. It is probably more efficient to focus on distribution for the release and let a server roll out the firmware enabling then to individually load each HDD with the firmware and by-bass potentially bricked units.

Of course I don’t have the answer for that, I am only thinking about the same thing that select HDD’s do with their Plug and Play features and Firmware updates for UI on web pages to be downloaded.

Sure Xb= Xbox one=one put them together you get Xbone. happy?

Didn’t Dave Cook ban a poster who suffered from a ridiculous aversion to the term Xbone?

    I guess their back -_-

Thanks, that makes sense. Shows you how hectic console. ‘Launch’ is though. I expect even more fuck ups along the way! :)

I expect them too. That’s why When I get my ps4 I will have the warranty and get an extended later. This is the first time I have bought a console at launch aside from the Vita. But, overall I buy them all just when the price is right.

My goal this gen is to buy early and have them all within the first 3 years. I am getting a Wii U after I get the PS4. Game first bitch later is my re-found philosophy

To all the homos on board here: the PS4 was made for your hermit-styled life. The DualCock4 comes in different sizes: DualCock4″, DualCock6″, DualCock8″, and the one thats sold out and that “Yoshi” and “Kaz” play with, the DualCock12″ (which comes with veiny 12″ grips).

i am desperately looking for a ps4 game to pick up @ launch. seriously is there anything people?
not intersted in cod, fifa, asscreed, killzone, knack (at least not for november. i prefer playing mario 3d world this fall in that genre, would buy knack later)…it’s unbelieveable that they have so many games but at the same time only such boring stuff. i forgot something don’t i? seriously any launch game tips are welcome.

    #86 11 months ago
  87. lexph3re

@poly I’m getting a realm reborn, killzone, injustice, war frame, dcuo, and knack later. I’m not pressed at launch because I still have games to beat on my ps3, vita, 360 and 3ds until infamous releases. And all cross gen third party games I’m getting on ps4. That’s my plan

    #87 11 months ago
  88. polygem

@lex: i will play mario 3d world, bravely default and link between worlds this november, december for sure, so i really have lots of new stuff to play already plus my backlog.
i preordered the ps4 in may, i would definitely be getting one at launch but i am having a hard time to find a game that i really want to play. would be kind of strange to have a shiny new console but no games for it. i mean, i know that great games will come, i just wish there would be something like destiny or evil within for launch. yeah, warframe looks interesting…

  89. lexph3re

I hear you I still have a killer back log in working on but great thing is my ps3 will probably move to my bedroom the ps4 in the main room with my 360 and I will be playing my back Log vita games at work on my lunch breaks when I don’t work out

    #89 11 months ago

    @poly

How about Outlast? Something spooky to play to combat the sweet sweet Mario?! :)

  91. polygem

well, i became kind of lazy in the last year or two, not that i don’t work out anymore but i definitely think twice more often…and then, playing games mostly wins :)

    #91 11 months ago
  92. polygem

@mg: sure, totally, of course…would love it but it’s not a launch game or is it?

    @Poly

Aw, balls! I don’t think it is, sorry dude! Was sure that was a launch game … :/

    #93 11 months ago
  94. polygem

see…this is what pisses me off about this next gen thing. it will sure become great and all but for now, i’m not feeling it. i want to though, badly :)

edit: resogun and contrast look good, might have to live with those two for the first few months :) but a game like outlast really would have sealed the deal for me.

    #94 11 months ago
  95. monkeygourmet

    @Poly

2 free a Indie games… Not the finest selection at launch! :)

It’s a pity Wii U didn’t have one more title like a Mario, then you would have been sorted! Zombi U is worth another shot now your more accustomed to Dark Souls! ;)

    #95 11 months ago
  96. polygem

yes, i was thinking about playing zombi u again actually. i could borrow it from a friend but it’s supercheap now anyway.
well but no matter how i look at this, it seems like it doesn’t make much sense to buy x1 or ps4 at launch. a pity, i was really looking forward to it…
maybe spring, maybe summer. i really want to check out destiny

edit: just checked ebay…xboxes for 699€ to 899€, ps4′s for 599/699/899(!)€…maybe i should rip off some rich kids at least.

This thread is a joke. Someone get out the ban hammer and do some cleansing.

As for this issue, it does not surprise me one bit that Sony are throwing this info out last minute, having spent months bitching about Microsoft forcing a day one patch, etcetera.

    Hypocrites.

  98. Max Pain

What is all the hate towards ?

PS4 will be a great gameing box so will the Xbox one…

this stuff is expensive we should all be lucky it even exist today.

quit your whining and be happy we are getting a new Gen at all..

side note both consoles are getting a Patch on release date, i expected it would. the consoles are being made a month/s before and Sony and Microsoft are working their butts of getting every thing ready..

If you cant cope with that fact you should probably wait until PS4 and Xbox one Ship with the new firmware.. 2.0 or something.

  101. Tech-N9ne

I just read somewhere else that the PS4 will not have sleep/instant resume for games functionality at launch. What did they demo back in February then?

Odd VG247 left that out on the post schilling for Sony as usual

    #101 11 months ago
  102. pcbros

This is why I don’t want to buy any console day one. They usually need to be patched, have bugs and can have hardware issues (RROD).

I waited a year to think about buying a Wii U and I’m glad I did. Lower price and better games out. Same will be the case for XB1/PS4 if I wait till 2014.

Unless there is a game that you must have day one, I don’t see the reason to take the plunge.

    #102 11 months ago
  103. XanderZane

@#53 – No it won’t. Sony never said this features patch will be on disks. It definitely won’t be at launch, but probably will be a month or so after launch. They don’t even have a online downloadable version to put on you USB Flash drive yet. The might get it up before launch (and they should).

#71 Eregol – So you won’t need Internet access to play Planetside2 or FF XIV? Some of these games will immediately try to access the internet to try and download updates that never made it on the disks before you play them. People who think you will never need an internet access for the PS4 are delusional. You will and most won’t notice any problems because; Ta-Da!! the will already have internet access. Military gamers and other who live out in the woods and backroads will be in for a rude awaking.

haaa so the remote play is for real and I was not completely wrong months ago!

Ps4 second screen feature sounds cool and fresh too, especially for kids.

    @126

I know right, this ideal of throwing updates, patches and alike is something manufacturers DO NOT understand the process of doing so every so often encourages hardware FLOP if:
1- It is not well written and overlap rewrite does not do a good job which slows down if not worse just break the hardware off forever
2- Alienate users that are not aware of an existing patch or newer patch conflict with older games of that same platform.

I just do not understand how manufacturer think it is normal to just shove unfinished system OS and worse BIOS down users’ throat.
It was not and still is not appealing to me in any way!

We are making bread but hey after you buy my bread, don’t forget to add yeast that we omitted, hummm perhaps that’s why the bread’s not rising at all?!?!?!?!

  105. Javinator

You need to be online to receive a patch to play blu ray movies offline??? What??!!
What about those people who don’t have internet??? The military soldier??!
Sony sucks. Its archaic. That’s why Samsung is taking over and the Wall Street Journal classifies Sony as “junk” (google it).

It’s funny that the consumer’s sentiments from the start of the marketing campaigns, i.e “as long as it just plays games” and “as long as I can resell and buy second hand games” have changed to entirely feature-oriented crusades of great justice.

    In terms of industry impact and general infrastructure, consoles have come a long way from;
    1. plop in a cartridge
    2. press the power button

At least debating games can be considered a pop-cult art debate, arguing feature sets of consoles, especially to this degree of kindergarten mudslinging, signifies a clear regression to consumerist vindication of enabling devices. It’s like a playpen of particularly dimwitted children discussing the merits of the frames surrounding the paintings.

(meant to put it here, accidently put it in the PS4 FAQ thread)

(guess it works for both comments sections though)

Wooww such hate on any side and for what exactly? a company you probably do not have have shares in, a company you do not work for, a company to whom you will provide money in plenty anyway and finally for games that are most likely to look just alike.

Are you two actually brothers or something?
    ————————————————–

    @103

Yes indeed but look at the length of the patch, I must admit, PS4 worked hard and worked hard for gamers. Too bad it does not come in at purchase.
