50% more gamers play online through Xbox 360 than PS3 in US, says NPD

Xbox 360 has 50% more online service users than PlayStation 3 in the United States according to an NPD report.

According to an extract from the NPD's 2013 Online Gaming report, released today by Microsoft, nearly 50% more online console users are on Xbox 360 rather than PS3.

As part of Microsoft's "Week of Xbox Live", the firm added that it has delivered more than 20 billion hours of online gaming and entertainment through Xbox 360. This represents a 17% year-on-year growth, according to the firm.

Microsoft also did not specify how that number is divided between actual online play versus other entertainment services like Netflix.

Xbox Wire promises more news and information during the week.
