Bungie has announced that those who pre-order Destiny at participating retailers worldwide will get early access to the Destiny beta. New screens, concept art and a trailer are below.

The news is not real surprising since the offer appeared in the website’s code and through Amazon earlier. Still, it’s good news.

Destiny pre-orders will provide early access to a “diverse sampling” of major activities featured in the full game and will start in early 2014 on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.

“We have no doubt Destiny is not only a great action game but also the next great entertainment property,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision publishing. “That means we’re putting all our creative support, and all our expertise in creating blockbuster franchises, into a colossal Destiny Beta that we believe will set a new bar for the next generation of games. Fans have a lot to look forward to in 2014.”

Destiny Beta Redemption Codes will only be available while supplies last, and to see a list of participating global retailers click here.

Upon pre-ordering the game visit the beta page and follow the instructions to secure your spot.

The required 9-digit entry code will be printed on your receipt, on a flyer distributed at time of purchase or sent via email through the respective retail rewards program.

Those who pre-ordered before October 1, today, and qualify for this offer are automatically entered into the beta and will receive an entry code from their retailer via email.

The public beta will begin n spring 2014.

Destiny releases on PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in 2014.

I’ve got a batch of screens and concept art being loaded in now. Took ages to download so sorry for the tardiness of it.

Goddamn that looks good. I would expect Activision to load it down with piecemeal monetized expansions and/or micro-transactions.

I’m usually not into shooters on consoles, but this looks good enough to make an exception.

It’s not unlikely though Phoenix, it’ll just be a while at the very least.

Activision are pretty hip to PC ports.

@5 – It’s possible though. I’d even say it’s more likely than not. Maybe it will be released for SteamOS :P

I don’t know.. I like the idea of it all being in space and such.. but as FPSer’s go, Titanfall really looks a hella lot more fun. I’m hoping it’s just the trailer..

Hold on…Spring 2014? Is that the releasedate of game or when the beta will start?

It looks fantastic, except for the MMO’ish animations.

“It looks fantastic, except for the MMO’ish animations.”

    Exactly, couldn’t agree more.

I wonder if that’s because of cross platform? The shooting doesn’t look fun or has any ‘weight’ behind it, very MMORPG and a huge problem if that’s what your going to be doing for 100+ hours…

One of my dreams for next gen was to have flesh / armour that could be stripped from an enemy model with gunfire. Really visceral and tactile. Gears of War was getting close IMO. Basically a cross between soldier of fortune / gears of war & phys X stuff thrown in….

That will really elevate the FPS genre again IMO.

@11, it’s not just an fps, it’s an online shared world rpg fps, the mmorpg look is what it should be like seeing as this game is an online rpg shooter like a better version of defiance. If you want realistic combat then you’re better of sticking to games that offer that sort of stuff.

Loadout the free2play title on Steam comes pretty close to what your describing…

It has cartoony visuals but the way bodyparts get ripped off with gunfire and explosions is awesome, and it gets better as the thick blood spills out all ‘physxy’.

Pretty hard to explain without seeing it in motion.
