Flashback arrives on PC next month

Tuesday, 24th September 2013 05:46 GMT By Brenna Hillier

The Steam page for Vector Cell’s Flashback remake now shows an October 1 release date. The $12 port is coming to Mac and PC, but does not seem to have any additional features over the Xbox 360 version, which is already available. The side-scrolling adventure is coming to PlayStation 3 later, too.

Thanks, Joystiq.

    am a fan of the original, so I was really excited about getting this one for my ps3 whenever it comes out, but it has gotten shit ratings.. anyone here played this?
    @brenna have you played it?

    I have. Stay away.

    It has absolutely none of the style or personality of the original. It’s as soulless and uninspired a remake as you can get. It doesn’t even feel the same.

    @1: Same here, but on Xbox. I initially wanted this, but the scathing reviews scared me off. I really should grab the trial version anyway.

    Damn shame, really. The original was so good in its day.

    So noted. Still, I might buy it and then replay the Genesis or the Amiga version, as those two were pretty much the most definitive takes on it.

    Why am I going to buy it? I guess it’s to show my appreciation that someone still cares about those old games, even if they’re not perfect renditions. I suspect that Mr. Michael is entirely correct and I’m going to end up with a strong distaste for the remake.

    But I want to send the message that the effort is appreciated. We need more like this, not less, even if the initial effort isn’t as good as it could have been.
