Dark Souls 2 closed beta test scheduled for October on PS3

Wednesday, 21st August 2013 18:46 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Dark Souls 2 will be getting a closed beta test on October 5 for players in North America and Europe on PS3.

Those who want to try their hand at the tester should keep an eye on the game’s Facebook page starting September 5.

The closed beta will “delve into one of the most treacherous areas” of the game, and will allow players toexperience “overwhelming enemy encounters, diabolical challenges, and the unrelenting difficulty that only the developers at FromSoftware can deliver.”

Dark Souls 2 is coming to PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2014.

Because the majority of Nintendo’s current fanbase don’t care much for these kinds of games i would guess.

Also, WiiU users don’t really strike me as serious hardcore gamers.

If the support was there a Wii U version would also be there.

All publishers see Nintendo systems as pointless, poor N-Space can’t find anyone.

The problem is, a lot of games (especially this one) would be great using the Wii U pad.

If you make devs have to think too much or deviate from simple ‘ports’, it’s a hard sell indeed.

Dark Souls 2 Wii U could have:

    Map
    Off Screen Play
    Inventory Management
See through the other players eyes when they invade (using the pad)
Fire long range weapons using the pad (worked ace for sniping in Zombie U)
Write messages easier (maybe even draw pictures)
Design emblems or armour sets using design tools
    Cast spells using the touchscreen
2 player mode, one on tablet, the other using pro controller
    Miiverse integration

Those are just off the top of my head, but many devs unfortunately won’t bother because of attach rates. Such a shame really. Has huge potential for innovation, I hope lots of Indies rip it open and show up some of the lazier devs.

Like i said before technically its possible, and theres loads of potential like you listed (Just Saying this now).
But its come down to one thing in the end: Money, it doesn’t mean Devs are lazy just means its not worth their while. The install base doesn’t matter look at the poor N-Space story.

If the demand was there a Wii U version would happen.

@5 PC doesn`t need a beta everybody knows that when any “PC Gamer” starts to get some problem to defeat x boss or are invaded they just activate some cheat of choice.

Why beta for ps3 when pc platform needs beta testing the most? Weird

@13 cause ps3 is the least pirated console of all of their targeted consoles.
