Ridiculous Fishing has passed 300,000 sales

Tuesday, 20th August 2013 17:04 GMT By Dave Owen

Ridiculous Fishing as sold ridiculously well. Vlambeer founders Jan Willem Nijman and Rami Ismail announced during their GDC Europe presentation that the game has hit the 300,000 sales mark on the Apple App Store.

It’s a whopping success if you consider that it sells for $3. “It’s nice,” said Nijman.

It turns out that Ridiculous Fishing was almost a freemium game. In the early stages of creation Vlambeer considered offering the game free of charge and charging $1000 for an in-game boat. In the end it was decided that this didn’t fit with their development style.

Good call.

Thanks, Joystiq.
