Killer Instinct will be priced in two different bundles

Tuesday, 20th August 2013 11:48 GMT By Dave Owen

The pricing structure for Xbox One exclusive beat ‘em up Killer Instinct has been announced by Microsoft. There will be two different bundles available, one costing a reasonable $19.99 and another for a little more princely $39.99.

The Combo Breaker bundle is the cheaper option, and contains six launch characters, all the characters, and training mode. Then there’s the more expensive Ultra Combo bundle, which includes all of the above along with two post launch characters, more stages, and the original Killer Instinct packed in.

Fighters will still be available to purchase individually, and more faces are planned to join the roster over time, including a few fan favourites.

Killer Instinct is an Xbox One launch exclusive.

Thanks, Game Informer.

So they decided to release it as a proper game alongside the F2P version?

I just wish they made a normal priced game with all the characters. The F2P model just turns me off to this type of game.

I was just thinking: With 1 character for free version, a LOT of people will play a lot with that one which might result in everyone playing as him in almost every online match. Same thing happened with Trackmania and the free version / map.

The whole thing shows just how alien MS is to a decent F2P system. Imagine if LoL had only 1-3 fixed heroes for free at launch rather than cycling method they used to force no-paying people into using others.

The starting character wil surely be off balanced towards the weak side LOL
It’s quite obvious to make more people fork money.
Microtransactions and premium stuff on a PvP is bad and wrong imho, while I consider it acceptable on co-op games like Mass Efect 3 multi or Warframe.

there is no reading fail, the Ultra Combo bundle comes with all the characters and only 2 post launch characters…..

I’m fairly sure there will be more than two post launch characters players will have to purchase even in they bought the pricier $39.99 bundle.

I just wish the game was $59.99 and you got a full stack of characters. Like Injustice.

@8 8 characters is a bit stingy for a fighting game.
Especially when you compare it to the likes of Street Fighter 4, Street Fighter X Tekken, Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Persona 4: Arena released recently.
I guess Double Helix weren’t given free reign to create new characters?

The $20 bundle isn’t too bad, as long as the 6 characters ain’t the shittiest ones of the game.

Now, $40 for 2 extra characters and a few stages? = Can’t see as much value there.

Nobody would buy this game, even with a thousand characters, for $60, period. You say you would, but if offered that vs other launch title I bet you go for another game.
