Worms: Clan Wars developer Team 17 has shed new light on the game's league play, the amount of effort that has gone into the solo campaign and a slew of new mechanics and physics tweaks worming their way to your PC on August 15.

During the clip, creative manager Kevin Carthew said explained that Worms: Clan Wars is - as the name suggests - all about forming clans with mates and battling it our for dominance of league tables. It's exclusive to PC and encourages community engagement at every juncture.

Kevin Hood added that the league tables have promotion and relegations, as well as points for every game played. So win or lose, your clan will always be rewarded depending for their efforts.

The game's campaign is set inside a museum and sees the worm squads battling across historical backdrops to chase a rogue magician after he makes off with a treasured carrot. I'm not making this up, and levels can be tackled in any order.

Worms: Clan Wars also has full Steam Workshop support. We reported on it here.
