Unreal Engine 4: new trailer shows layered materials at work

Unreal Engine 4 developer Epic Games has published a new video that shows how the engine can be used to layer materials easily and apply several effects to an object’s surface.

The clip explains that Unreal Engine 4 lets designers create art for games and apply effects and other touches to their work at speed and with greater impact. It practically shows how quickly changes can be made. It’s rather fast.

    Other engines might look better under certain conditions and kinds of games, but Unreal Engine has proven to be an all-around solid base for developers who want to focus on the content without sacrificing the looks.

    Plus, the change of business model a while back was just so right, it still makes me tickle with excitement after all this time.

    Nope

    Watch again it allows you to layer all the textures in a much similar way that Photoshop does. That is something completely different than a shader. This would be before even doing shader work.
