F1 2013 revealed: first details, screens & videos inside

Monday, 15th July 2013 14:00 GMT By Dave Cook

F1 2013 developer Codemasters has lifted the lid on its latest racing title, together with some debut screens and a trailer. Get them all here.

In a press release sent to VG247 this morning, Codemasters confirmed that F1 2013 will feature all of the drivers, cars and circuits from the 2013 season, and will let players drive as Lewis Hamilton in his Mercedes and Sergio Perez in the McLaren-Mercedes car. It also has all rule changes implemented this year.

The game offers a nostalgia trip in the form of a new classic mode, which is introduced by legendary commentator Murray Walker. The mode sees drivers from the 1980s squaring off against modern-day stars.

Veteran racers include Nigel Mansell, Mario Andretti, Emerson Fittipaldi, Gerhard Berger and more, with races set across the Circuit De Jerez and Brands Hatch circuits. The mode can be played in custom championship, time trial and in split-screen and online multiplayer modes, and include class cars from Ferrari, Williams and Lotus, complete with old-school handling.

F1 2013 also includes an expanded Young Driver’s Test mode to show newcomers the ropes at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina circuit, mid-season save features, the return of Grand Prix mode and it all offers full RaceNet integration to make the game more competitive and social.

F1 2013 hits PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 this fall.

Was planning on holding on to my F1 2012 this year, but that FW14 changed my mind.
I wonder what other classic cars will be included, perhaps the M23 and the 312T? Rush is out this September after all.

F1 is about as exciting as Eastenders. Overrated sport.

So awesome to drive as Nige and Berger around, although I am wondering if Senna will be included. May he and his unrivaled drivingskills rest in peace.

Just checked online, apparently the classics are limited to the 80s and 90s.
Oh well, hopefully the MP4/4 and the MP4/13 will be in.

Car models are decent but the environment and lighting are awful.
