Layton Brothers Mystery Room developer Level-5 has announced the European and North America release of its iOS puzzler. It’s rolling out on iTunes near you today.

In a press release sent to VG247 this morning, Level-5 confirmed the game as a free release for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The game starts off with two free cases to solve then hits a pay-wall for additional cases, each starring Professor Layton’s son Alfendi Layton. You can grab it via iTunes here.

The plot sees Layton, his new assistant Lucy Baker and other Scotland Yard detectives assigned to twisted cases in what is known as the ‘Mystery Room’. It’s your job to investigate evidence, eliminate red-herrings and get to the bottom of diabolical crimes.

We’ve got a batch of new screens below for your viewing pleasure.

So it’s a Crime Procedural then?
Funny how I don’t even remember the Layton games having any hint of blood and now we’re solving murders.

Might as well give it a spin if the first case is free. If it has the same level of writing, charm, art direction, music, and voice acting as the DS games, all the better.
Shame there’s no top hats this time around though.

Similar to Capcom’s Ace Attorney series, Mystery Room is a spin-off of Level-5’s popular Professor Layton franchise, starring Hershel’s son, Alfredi. If you need an overall appraisal of the game, Search AppsGoer to get a full review.
