Oddworld New 'n' Tasty, Don't Starve, more indies confirmed for PS4

Oddworld New 'n' Tasty was confirmed for PS4 along with Secret Ponchos, Octodad: Dadliest Catch and other indie titles.

Octodad: Dadliest Catch will feature the sharing features of the PlayStation 4 so players can share this odd father's shenanigans with others. It will be released on the system in 2014.

Red Barrels is also bringing Outlast to PS4. It will be released on PS4 late next year.

Klei Entertainment is bringing its fun, wilderness survival game full of science and magic - Don't Starve - to PS4. There isn't a release date for it, but the team is working with the community to develop and balance the game, and updating Don’t Starve constantly on PC.

It is now working to bring the experience to console, and "if the logistics allow, we’d love to do the same on the PS4 once it’s launched," the firm said. The challenge right now is to "implement a great interface for the PS4 controller. "

Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty is a remake of Oddworld Inhabitants' Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee which was originally released on PS One. It will debut on PS4. The game doesn't have a release date but was previously confirmed for PC, Xbox 360, PS3, and Vita.

GALAK-Z from 17-BIT is also coming to the console. It's a space shooter in the classic form of arcade greats from the past such as R-Type, Gradius and Pulstar. The classic styled 2D shooter revisited with modern tech and gameplay innovations is without a release date.

Tribute Games will release Mercenary Kings on PS4. It's a 4-player co-op run and gun shooter with a crafting system. Team up with up to three friends to take on an evil organization named CLAW. While you’re on missions, defeating enemies and completing objectives will reward you with loot. This loot can be used to craft new gun parts and combine them to fit your play style thanks to over 300 gun parts already in the game. Levels aren’t linear and bosses don’t necessarily always appear at the same spot so there will be some replayability for you in it.

Switchblade Monkeys will release Secret Ponchos, its spaghetti western inspired game on PS4. The gameplay is about how you read and react to situations in addition to the combat and the team studied fighting games and included elements of "precision range mechanics as well as precision timing to give the game a responsive quick-twitch console control feel."

The combat is a "unique marriage of fighting games and team shooters" and can be played 1 vs 1, 2-4 player gang fights, and guns-blazing 8-player free-for-all shootouts. The premise of the game is “What’s Your Head Worth?“. Players create an outlaw and enter the town of Lonetree – where they instantly have a bounty on their head. Players then engage in battle against others, battles where one will stand and one will fall. The bounty system fosters a mentality of "kill-or-be-killed."

"If you win, the value on your head goes up, while the defeated outlaw’s bounty drops. As your notoriety and reputation increase, you can unlock perk points and upgrade your gameplay abilities, tweaking your properties in a way that suits how you want to fight,"said the firm. It looks really cool.
