Draw Something creators OMGPOP shuttered amid Zynga lay-offs

Draw Something creators OMGPOP have shuttered during a run of mass lay-offs at parent company Zynga.

This morning we reported that Zynga is to axe over 500 jobs and close four studios, following confirmation from CEO Mark Pincus.

It now seems that OMGPOP is one of the affected studios. Siliconbeat has reported on several tweets coming from the studio's official feed and those of staff members suggesting that the office has been closed.

Zynga's senior community manager - who joined the company after it acquired OMGPOP - added:

Siliconbeat contacted Zynga spokesperson Michelle Kramer for comment, but she declined to offer further insight.

One OMGpop employee tweeted that she found out the company she was working for was no longer open through Facebook.

Zynga acquired OMGPOP a year ago for around $200 million, with gaming consultant Will Luton estimating it cost the firm $528,000 per day to run it.
