Warcraft movie starts filming early 2014, possible 2015 launch window

World of Warcraft seems to be getting the movie treatment after all, following wave after wave of doubt surrounding the project. It should start filming in 2014, and the previously stated 2015 release window still seems to stand.

Speaking with Slashfilm, producer Charles Roven said, “First quarter 2014 we’re going to shoot that movie. We’re moving forward; obviously [studio Legendary Entertainment] is making that film and I’m having a great time with Duncan.”

Moon director Duncan Jones is directing the adaptation. What do you think about the project? Should it be happening at all? What stories could it involve? Let us know below.

I wonder if by the time this launches WoW will be considered an over-the-hill franchise. Popularity seems to be fading anyway, I just wonder if they should let this die off.

Unless it’s done amazingly well, there’s so much room for this to end up being garbage.

@1 WoW fading away? That was joke, right? They are still floating ridiculously close to 10 million active players, I hardly call it fading away. Sure people leave when expansion gets “old”, but every time most of them roll back into the game as new expansion comes out.

Is WoW in decline? Yes, but it will take ludicrous amount of time to fade into even “normal” player amounts like 1 to 2 million.
