Ravensdale is the latest game from Giana Sisters dev

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams developer Black Forest Games has made good on a decade's worth of dreaming and teasing and hinting to announce side-scrolling action effort Ravensdale.

Ravensadale is a sort of steampunk-y fantasy universe where orcs carry furnaces to power motor guns and goblins propel themselves about with rockets. According to the first developer blog on the new project, Black Forest Games has had the setting kicking around for years, and has always wanted to turn it into a game of some kind.

The project originally took shape as an action RPG and was pitched to publishers globally, with no success - so Black Forest has decided to make something smaller to increase interest in what it's calling "fuel fantasy".

The result is a co-op multiplayer-focused side-scrolling action game using ideas the team were keen to implement in Giana Sisters, but couldn't make fit.

More details - presumably regarding release window, platforms, and mechanics - are expected soon, and the game will be crowdfunded.

Thanks, Joystiq.
