PS4 site suggests Vita remote play as standard feature

Thursday, 16th May 2013 22:45 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Sony has updated its PlayStation 4 website with a section suggesting Vita Remote Play may be available for all or most PlayStation 4 games.

Visit the official US PlayStation 4 website and scroll down about two thirds to admire this inspiring message:

“Play your favorite PS4 games on your PlayStation Vita’s beautiful 5-inch display using Remote Play.”

The statement does not necessarily confirm the feature will be available for all PS4 titles but it would certainly be considered extremely misleading advertising if, at a later date, it turned out the majority of games didn’t support it.

Sony has demonstrated Vita remote play for PS4 reveal title Knack, but has not said anything about how much support the cross-controller system will receive, beyond indicating that it would like it if every game made it available.

A recent comment from a Sony executive suggesting that the Vita will get some sort of boost soon does lend some weight to the idea that Sony may push for all games to make remote play available.

We have, of course, asked Sony for clarification. Several PlayStation 3 games support Vita remote play.

Thanks, Lengendaryboss.

Good move but they need to cut Vita’s price first and then, release some FREAKING games for it. People say Wii U is suffering from lack of games but it is NOTHING compared to Vita. Seriously, Soul Sacrifice might be the first major Vita only game in 6 months.

@1 First game in Six months? No History Legends Of War Launched in Mid April and 4 ports in February/March. Edit: But if exclusive is what you mean then true.
Games equal hardware sales boost. Game plus price cut equals massive hardware sales boost. Games, Price cut on memory card plus PS Vita equal massive hardware sales boost.

kinda smart move, it just focuses on the two and gives people another reason to buy a vita and hopefully by that time there will be enough vita’s around that we’ll start getting actual games. like i want battlefield 5 exclusively on the vita not battlefield 5 portable plus ._.

Wii sucks – PS Moves great!
Kinect sucks – PS4 Eye is great!
Wii U pad sucks – PS4 / Vita are great!

There is some kind of link or thread running through this… Can’t quite put it together…

Ps move is more optimise then the wii and it’s implemented on hardcore and big games not like the wii that release silly games for kids..

Ps eye and kinect are the same to me. Except that kinect have more games which is not a good thing for hardcore gamers. So to hell with both..

Ps4 is stronger then the wii u and will have much much better games while wii u will stay for casual gamers. Both are different in level of gaming and used for different reasons..

Ps vita is not a controller like the wii u pad. It’s a hardware that have it’s own games and it will be able do what the wii u provide but with better games and more features ..

If i were you i would grow up and play the real games or stay playing the silly games and be quite…

I never get this feature. So I play a ps4 game on my vita while my ps4 is on? What’s the point?

When your girlfriend wants to watch Jersey Shore, you can still play Killzone streamed on your Vita.

It’s great because we all know girls don’t play games!

Irony at its finest. People claim one device is doing the samw thing that anoher device they dont even want is doing and complain about it with comparisons only they make and not the console manufacturers.

Then the consoles are shunned in a giant stale mate of gamers who claim theres nothing to play.

    PS Vita – $249.99-$299.99
    PS4 – $399 & up (probably)

    Total = $648 without tax

I’m sorry, I just see most gamers using this feature. Unless you want a Vita for it’s games. Nobody is going to buy a PS Vita just to play games on a smaller screen with less buttons than the DualShock 4.

Some hardcore Sony fans will…but that’s about it.

Correct me if im wrong but they said the same thing about the ps3 and the vita when they announced it and as right now we can play something like 5 games via remote play.

I meant major release. Exclusive or not. The last one IMO was Assassin’s Creed Vita. I don’t even know what History Legends Of War is :)

This exact “feature” was flaunted and fanfared by Sony with the PS3/PSP in around the time of PS3′s launch. It went nowhere.

    @15 & @17
The problem with remote play on PS3 is that it needs resources that games might otherwise use. Hence support is only on smaller or less intensive titles. The PS4 has a dedicated encoding chip to stream the video and any memory resources are already covered by the OS. Hence every game should support it bar Move titles. I thought they already indicated this at the PS4 announce.

As a feature it’s not one everyone will want, but for those who do have to share a TV with family etc then the ability to interact with your PS4 and play the majority of your games this way is a good feature. I’ll be using it a lot.

In fact here you go, it’s already been confirmed …

“I pressed Yoshida about day-one functionality; will PS4 and Vita support Remote Play the first day PlayStation 4 hits the market? “I will be heartbroken if it doesn’t [work] day one,” he answered. “So day one, my expectation… we have to have all [PS4] games work on PS Vita, unless it’s a camera-only game.””

sony is definitely gonna need to lower the price of the vita in order for it to sell with the ps4 or they can slap an extra 100 on the ps4 price tag and include a vita with it.. I know im dreaming but.. hey…
