Kojima interested in PS4′s social aspects

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima is more keen on the PlayStation 4′s “horizontal expansion” into social sharing than its hardware upgrade, and hopes to use some of these new features in future games.

“With every new generation of hardware the capabilities of the hardware increases. But up to this point it’s always been very much of a vertical evolution – of course, you expect things like visual fidelity, audio, frame rate. New features such as 3D capability, etc, etc. These things are a given. They come with the new hardware,” Kojima told IGN.

“But what I’m really more interested in is other ways of expanding into the next generation – a more horizontal expansion, where you’re going to be doing things online, more of a social aspect. People will be able to interact with the game through various devices, through various media – such as tablets, smart phones, etc.

“I think it’s this new type of interaction – this new way of interacting with the game world – that’s more exciting to me. And I want to bring the Metal Gear franchise into that new wider world of interaction.”

Kojima’s next project is Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, which is currently slated to release on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Yea the above screenshot is totally made for PS3/360 and wasn’t running on a PS4 dev kit regardless the fact we all seen several games made for the PS4 last week.

No way SONY gave Kojima (of all devs) this high end PC dev kit months ago to showcase a next gen Metal Gear.

Erthuzus you will always be a moron little pathetic troll….and you owe me $1000 you loser.

    @ Kojima,

I hope this social thing doesn’t hinder the experience of the next MGS. I mean:

    1) what is the probability of you and your friend being on the ps4 at the same period of time ?!
    2) How will you be able to focus on the game and @ the same time socialize with your friends ?!

unless it is 100% bullet proof ( no lag ) AUDIO/VIDEO conversation integrated into the game, similar to how the BOSS and the rest of the MGS characters communicate? like having a game element ( like a communication point ) where you can try and establish com-link with your friend … if they aren’t there you can continue … or leave them a voice message. that would be cool !!
