PS4 European Release window unconfirmed, will hit ‘at least’ one region in 2013
PS4 will launch across “at least” one region in 2013, according to SCEE UK managing director Fergal Gara.

Following a two-hour PS4 reveal event last week, Gara said to Digital Spy, “We will launch it this year. Exactly what regions, what timing, is being worked through.
“Which regions in 2013 – is it all of them, is it some of them? Is there some degree of phasing? We’ll reveal that in more detail later but we can’t yet. At least. It will launch this year, but the precise details as I say for exact dates, exact regions, is it all or some of them? We don’t know.”
This will surely be a tad concerning for those who have ambitions of playing PS4 this year. What do you make of the above?
You can check out Steph’s interview with Gara from the PS4 reveal event here.
Thanks CVG.

Next year would be nice, this way I could delay buying a new tv until then.

And where does he say that it will be “one region”?

@2 See edits above man, there was a quote that they missed where Gara actually said ‘at least one’ region. It makes more sense now.

Later and far more expensive (1$=0.75€=1€) in europe. Everybody think we are rich or something.

Sales tax plus the complexities of multiple countries explain the difference. US prices are always given before sales tax.
@Article
I think Europe will be screwed if they can’t produce the volumes. Japan they have to launch in this year as it’s their home territory. The US they can’t leave to MS this year as they have the most ground to make up there. The EU is as a whole a fairly safe PS zone – so they will take the flack here and concentrate on the other two for now.
Disappointing but realistically I still have loads to play this year.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_launch – Mostly comprised of commonly sourced parts, Microsoft’s present machine was able to be released through the majority of key markets (bar, Aus/NZ) within two weeks.
Why couldn’t Sony accomplish similar? That may be Microsoft’s trump card. Although, on paper Sony could say it released PS4 at a particular date, if Microsoft were able to repeat or better what they did last time, and in reality have their machine on Sale before Sony, the PS4 could lose traction, particularly if MS were to pile on media coverage

MS was very good with global launches of games this generation too. However for the 360 stock was very limited and it was tough to get hold of the machine. So there needs to be a balance of sorts too. You don’t gain traction if very few of the people who want to buy can get hold of one.

Their content delivery strategy was superior. One of the main pluses I recognised from them. As for the machine’s availability, I remember inflated prices and lengthy lists on trackers of current stock, but wasn’t that fairly short-lived.

@8,
And the hasty launch was accompanied with RROD.
Really, take time to build a lasting hardware. It really doesn’t matter if its launched 2-3 months early or late to me. I was never thinking of buying it this year.

Only they didn’t in Europe did they? Europe as a whole is a bigger PS3 market than a 360 market. It’ll have some impact sure, but it didn’t stop them winning Europe this time and that was launching nearly a year and a half later. 360 was 2 December 2005 – PS3 was 23 March 2007.

@13 thats true but not in uk every time i go into a store there are more people looking at 360 games than ps3 and every GAME store has more 360 shelf space compared to ps3 which must mean more people buy 360 in uk

@dmao110011 “Sony will lose again” ? Eh – You do know the xbox 360 is in third place despite launching a year earlier than the ps3 right ?

Oh yeah 360 beat the PS3 in UK, Europe as a whole leans towards Sony though.
