Planetside 2 will experience some server mergers soon
Sometimes, things don’t quite work exactly as intended in MMOs, and so things need to be adjusted. In the case of the free-to-play MMOFPS Planetside 2, one such thing is server populations. They are unbalanced, says Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley, and so server mergers are on the way.

Here are his tweets on the matter.
Server merges soon. Info coming by Monday. No server transfers coming till after that’s done. Wouldn’t be right doing it other way around

@miukumac hah. No. Too many people went to some servers and not as many went to others. Simple as that. — John Smedley (@j_smedley) February 20, 2013
So it’s not that all servers have low populations, as is often the case when server mergers are warranted, but just that they need to fold low-pop servers into high-pop ones. And that is certainly not cause for undue alarm.
Thanks, PCGamesN.

This is a good thing. A number of things have started to go in the right direction for PS2 as of late. If they fix the meta-game it will demand more of my time. And I imagine others as well.

@1 There has been no meta-game since Day 1 of beta so… what?.. about 9 months to “fix meta-game” and nothing is changed. Game balance also is kinda meh…

@2 Yes, maybe more, maybe less but until they do something I wont get hooked . I enjoy many aspects of PS2 and feel it has potential yet find the total lack of a front disappointing. BF4 for PS4 might be revealed today and that could make me forget all about the potential of PS2.
