Wildman Kickstarter cancelled, GPG looks elsewhere for help

Gas Powered Games has cancelled its crowdfunding campaign for action RPG strategy hybrid Wildman, with founder Chris Taylor knuckling down to try and save the company.

The Kickstarter had just four days on the clock, and did not look likely to hit its ambitious $1.1 million target, attracting just $504,000. In an update to the project's Kickstarter, Taylor said he needs to start looking for other ways to save Gas Powered Games.

"At this point, it makes sense for us to focus our attention on other ways to keep Gas Powered Games running. Unfortunately, we are unable to share any specifics in public," the update said.

"We are profoundly grateful to those of you who backed this project and Gas Powered Games. Your passion and hard work put us in a position to write this exciting new chapter in the history of GPG."

Gas Powered Games has invited those who want to follow the company's adventures in the coming days and beyond to sign up to the developer's forums.

Taylor had said publishers were keen to invest in Wildman but only if crowdfunding demonstrated sufficient interest.

In order to try and save Gas Powered Games, which has had several cancelled projects and receives no revenue from sales of its games, Taylor had issued lay-offs.

Thanks, Polygon.
