Football Manager 2013 is the fastest-selling game in the series, says Sports Interactive

Sports Interactive boss Miles Jacobson has said even though Football Manager 2013 is the fastest-selling game in the series, the team won't rest until it receives higher critical acclaim.

Speaking with MCV, Jacobson said FM13 sales are "significantly up, double digit up on a global level," compared to the previous entry, and in a down market. Sales of the iOS version are also up buy double digits, with sales hitting over half a million worldwide.

"Even the PSP game did better than we expected," he said. "For a studio that's in its 21st year now, to still see record sales is something we are really proud of. FM13 was our highest reviewed game for some time - 87 on Metacritic - but it's still not where we want to be, which is 90.

"There's no reason why a triple-A PC title, which we are, shouldn't be competing with a triple-A console title."

Football Manager 2013 launched in November.
