Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem announced

Following a very brief tease in yesterday’s enormous Nintendo Direct, Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem has been confirmed by Atlus parent company Index Holdings in a Japanese press release.

Gematsu reports the announcement is short on details, offering no release date for the Wii U RPG crossover, but it did state that development will be shared by Atlus and Nintendo’s Intelligent Systems team.

Fire Emblem: Awakening, pictured, hits 3DS in the west in February in the US and in April in Europe. Shin Megami Tensei 4 has not been dated outside Japan.

Both series have avid fanbases outside Japan, and Shin Megami Tensei in particular has spawned dozens of games and spin offs, including the Persona series.

the trailer didn’t show much, but man this sounds great.

“development will be shared by Atlus and Nintendo’s Intelligent Systems team.”

Atlus is top class and Fire Emblem is probably the best jrpg on 3ds, so really looking forward to the mix.

If Nintendo keep whipping out titles like this, they’ll get me this gen as a secondary system. Actually, curious how this’ll play, though. The Fire Emblem titles are SRPG’s, while the MegaTen series are Satanic dungeon crawlers. Hmmm.
