Crysis 3 maxing out current-gen consoles, “not even 1%” is left, says Crytek CEO

Tuesday, 11 December 2012 20:35 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Crysis 3 is maxing out current-generation consoles, according to Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli.

Speaking with Videogamer, Yerli said the game pulls so much there’s not even “1%” left on the existing platforms.

“Crysis 3 is absolutely maxing out the consoles. There is absolutely not even 1 percent left,” he said. “No game will ever look technically better than Crysis 3 on these consoles, flat out. Most games are not even anywhere near Crysis 2 technically. I’m not talking about art style–art is subjective–but the pure fact of what we have been cramming in with Crysis 2 on Xbox [360] and PlayStation [3], I’ve yet to see a game do that still today.

“That’s why we said [two years ago] that Crysis 3 is next-gen ready already. We did that without knowing the specs but it’s not going to be much more than what we have done so far. And it turns out we were pretty much right.

“Any day I will take a battle against Gears and Halo, whatever, the amount of data we put in and the detail level is far superior,” Yerli said. “With Crysis 3, we’re pushing that to another level, but the PC is just two levels beyond.”

Fight! Fight! Fight!

Crysis 3 arrives on February 19 in North America and February 21 in Europe for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

    we have killzone3,uncharted3,god of war3 and soon god of war4, last of us etc…. these games looks better and run circles around your crappy crysis2 game when it comes to framerate.

    you Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli, haven’t maxed out anything with your unoptimized lazy scab code work.

    Did we even see console footage of Crysis 3 ?!, all I know is that we saw gameplay running on NASA like PC, so where is the console footage ?!

    Show us how great your game is then talk, then again you already screwed your original PC fans, and Crysis 2/3 is nothing like Crysis 1.

    but the pure fact of what we have been cramming in with Crysis 2 on Xbox [360] and PlayStation [3], I’ve yet to see a game do that still today.

    this is pure bollocks… i have seen more cramming in killzone3 and god of war3. these games was released one year earlier than your 20 framrate dropping,screen tearing, screen blurring, texture popping scab game Crysis2. you Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli haven’t crammed anything since Crysis 1 on the pc from 2007.

    Sorry fanboy, but God of War always has been and always will be as ugly as sin. Devil May Cry has it beat. The thing is is that it’s always been technically impressive, much in the way Crysis is technically impressive, but the art direction of GoW is no better than, say, Dark Souls.

    Uncharted is no different than any other triple-A title, either. It was better in the art direction department, but not by much. And it always did have exceptionally bad water. Also, all that racism and sexism isn’t exactly a thing to be proud of.

    Killzone 3? Are you shitting me?

    Look. If you want to tout aesthetic beauty and art direction on the Playstation3, try LittleBigPlanet, flOwer, or Ratchet & Clank. Those are solid arguments.

    Frankly, Torchlight II has more charm, charisma, and individuality than anything you chose as an example. And that’s a netbook game! Seriously guy, you need to pick your examples better.

    i talk about games that really cramming the ps3 to max here… when it comes to lbp2, yes the creative mode with the game engine in the background. where you make your own level with point to point vector filled graphic is pushing the ps3 very much. so that i should have mention…

    but my point is Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli, havent crammed anything and talks crap. the games i mention crush his crysis2 game to the ground… and i bet there is games on the x360 that do the same.

    when it comes to killzone3 it is one of the better looking games and that is a well known fact.. and there is no framerate droppings, no screen tearing etc. if Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli cant deliver anything of the quality of killzone3, god of war3, uncharted3 that have been done on the ps3. he have nothing to show of and can just shut it.

    its clearly Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli, is all about the money now days. doing half arsed multi ports, so gamers on any platform will get a half arsed game experience. he did good with the crysis1 from 2007 no doubt about that. but does days are over, now days he is just a pathetic liar that try to live on past glory.

    Crysis 2 on PC maxed with texture mods is a very impressive looking game, it looks decent on 360, I have it on both, I much prefer the PC version with an xbox controller.

    I’d have to say Halo 4 is the best looking 360 game I have seen yet.

    #16 2 years ago
  17. ps3fanboy

    @16

    no doubt it look decent on the ps3 to, but both the ps3 and x360 have very bad framerate, screen tearing, texture popping and blurry distance graphics… i don’t find it acceptable after i have seen what other games can do one year earlier and much better.

    on pc with mods i guess crysis2 can be tweaked to goodness.. but you shouldn’t have to, it should be outta the box no tweaking needed. we all have seen what crysis1 could do and it is from 2007. it just makes crysis2 a joke and to top it of we have Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli, YET again here telling all of us lies… all platforms can be maxing out when you cramming your unoptimized lazy scab code on it.

    Crysis 4 on the PS3: “We thought that we had pushed the cell processor as far as it would go, but in order to bring this new “singed deformable fabric” mechanic over from PC our engineers programmed straight to the metal to squeeze 120% of the power out. We’re so proud of them, but this time, seriously, that’s it, we really REALLY got every last bit out.”

    OR

    Crysis 4 on the PS3: “We couldn’t do anything new or special, so this one’s basically the same as the last one. You can enjoy the new story though. This time, a super-soldier is taking on unbelievable alien enemies in a near future apocalyptic nightmare.”

    Which is more likely PR if they had to bring the next one to PS3?

  21. manamana

    Fuck of Cevat! Your games suck balls and are the definition of uninspired mainstream. I couldn’t care less about a new Crysis. Go sell it, it’s great for the tiny german gamedevelopment industrie. But don’t count on me. Crysis2 was the pinpoint of FPS boredom IMVHO.

    The problem I had with c2 was once you had the best cloke ability you could walk through levels without even fighting lol. Personally c2 had a lot of flat textures and I played it in dx11.

    @10 – Hey, as a rule I am not a fan of first person shooters and I find the Killzone series mediocre AT BEST, and that is me being extremely generous…but, there is no denying that Killzone 2 & 3 are some of the most graphically impressive games of this entire generation.

    And God of War 3, especially the beginning of the game, looks absolutely amazing! You must not have played it if you think Devil May Cry came anywhere near looking as good.

    Ratchet & Clank, Flower, and LittleBigPlanet are not graphically impressive. Everything in them looks like it could be done on 360 or Wii U. Killzone 2 & 3, the last two Uncharted games, and God of War 3? I have not seen anything on any other console that looks half as good. PC, yeah, I’ve seen way better on friends’ rigs, but console-wise? Nothing compares so far, if we’re talking graphics.

    @8

    And Crysis 2 wasn’t linear? That game was far more linear then the other games listed. Crysis 2 just gave the illusion of wide open space and choice in game play.

    Crysis 2 was one of the most unoptimized piece of code I have ever scene. With that said it may look impressive but they are just using raw power vs Naughty Dog’s way of development where they find way of getting the most out of system with being as efficient as possible.

  27. Gadzooks!

    I really liked Crysis 2. I had the freedom to stealth or snipe or go nuts with heavy weapons, at pretty much any point in the campaign.

    The levels weren’t totally open, but big enough to not feel constantly funneled, and it did look lovely, on the 360 at least.

    Technically superb, satisfying and flexible gunplay. I’ll definitely be getting Crysis 3.

    Oh, and a massive LOL to the restrictive narrow corridors of Killzone, Uncharted and GoW (fixed cameras… in 2012??). Might as well play Dragons Lair. That linear game looked good in the 80′s.

    That gameplay-lite showy garbage makes the kids happy though. Michael Bay/Roland Emmerich gaming I like to call it. :D

    #27 2 years ago
  28. Phoenixblight

    @27

    Haha! You call those other games Michael Bay gaming and Crysis 2 doesn’t fall into that category? That game had more explosions than the Transformer series. There is no substance in the game and the story but it did have a shit load of explosions.

    #28 2 years ago
  29. absolutezero

    and it was far more restrictive, narrow and funnelled than even the first game in the series.

    @15

    Sorry guy. I’m not a marketing person, I calls it like I sees it. And the God of War series has always been really ugly in the aesthetics department. It’s possibly the most visually uninspired take on the Greek mythos I’ve seen.

    There’s a hell of a lot of potential within that mythos to do really interesting, unusual, stand out things. God of War didn’t even touch upon that potential, it could have been almost any kind of near-medieval fantasy game.

    I think they did more interesting things with the low budget Herc: Legendary Journeys series. If you can’t at least do better than that, then you shouldn’t pick a mythos that would place such high expectations upon your creativity.

    GoW would have done better as a generic fantasy game.

    PC > consoles
    Crysis 3 PC > any game on consoles
    Crysis 3 Console …. < several games on consoles

    This will make you laugh but what are the requirements for Crysis 2 multyplayer for the PS3!??? I have 30MB internet with 50ms ping on a bad day and it runs like crap lagging is all it dose, did any1 even test this over the internet or did they just Lan it in the office and say “yea, works sell it” because its a joke and its putting me off crysis 3 because if they could release 1 game unfinished and untested whats stopping them doing it again? and i kinda get why they didnt fix Crysis 2, its because we already bought it so they got paid and if they already got paid why bother fixing it? so really the problems need to be fixed before it comes out. To Crytek – if you cant fix Crysis 2 why will the third one be different? Theres a s**t load of us still waiting for this miricle patch to fix our game, is it coming? sorry for the rant but iv just tried to play a couple of games there – it was terrible and its killing what could be so great

    I feel robbed everytime i try to play Crysis 2 multiplayer. Just had another game there and now im re-angry, even 1 on 1′s with people in the same town dont run without lag! prove me wrong someone please! if u cant then lets get this crap sorted once and for all, i want my crysis 2 to work and i want crysis 3 to be finnished and proparly tested before release, if they get away with this all games will follow and will result in the downfall of online gaming.
