Assassin’s Creed movie screenplay has begun: Ubisoft retains creative control
Assassin’s Creed is being given the movie treatment, starring one Michael Fassbender. Ubisoft has just announced that it is partnering with New Regency to bring the franchise to the big screen.

In an official statement, Ubisoft confirmed that, “the development of a screenplay is beginning immediately and the project is being fast tracked as the creative pieces come together, while allowing Ubisoft to maintain control of key elements of the movie’s creative direction. Financial terms of the deal are not being disclosed.”
“Ubisoft chose to partner with New Regency because they are a talent- and filmmaker-driven company, with the same independent and creative mindset that we have at Ubisoft Motion Pictures,” said Jean-Julien Baronnet, chief executive officer, Ubisoft Motion Pictures.
He added, “bringing aboard New Regency’s renowned production and distribution expertise while maintaining our own creative and financial flexibility ensures that Assassin’s Creed will be a high-quality film that respects the lore and fans of the video game franchise.”
“We wanted to do everything we could to secure the rights to Assassin’s Creed, which Ubisoft has maintained with such care and quality over the years,” said Brad Weston, president and chief executive officer, New Regency.
Meanwhile, the latest Assassin’s Creed 3 trailer focuses on Desmond. Watch it here.

I always though they need to make this into a television series, TBH. Like a high quality on HBO. There’s TOOOOO much stuff to cover in three movies for this series; Ezio’s story is a trilogy all it’s own to be honest.

This is actually good people. Look at all other movie games. None of them were made with game makers creative control. Look at Fantastic Four movie or X-Men Origins. Both are films made without involvement of comic makers. Now look at Iron Man and Avengers, both made with Marvels creative control. This could be it. This could be the one game adaptation that doesn’t suck beyond recognition.

Michael Fassbender’s in? I’m in. Just watch movies like Hunger, Fish Tank, Shame, Inglorious Basterds, Jane Eyre (the 2011 adaptation), even Eden Lake and A Dangerous Method and you’ll see this movie is getting a damn amazing artistic (acting) treatment. That’s ONE HELL of an actor. Now I’m worried about the director and writer/s.
