Rumour – Prince of Persia reboot screenshot leaked

An Ubisoft forum member has posted what appears to be an in-development screenshot of an unannounced Prince of Persia game.

The unverified screenshot includes a watermark labelling it as Prince of Persia Zero, a codename used by Ubisoft for a PS2 game which would have taken the prince into the modern era. it was cancelled, so even if the screenshot is genuine, it may be something dug out of the archives rather than indication of a new game.

That said, we did get a bit of a tease back in May, although the lack of a hoped-for E3 reveal suggests someone might have been yanking our chains.

The last Prince of Persia games were a 2008 effort for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, which rebooted the series again following waning mid-2000′s success, and The Forgotten Sands, a 20120 multi-platform affair ignoring the second reboot and tying in with the Hollywood film.

Thanks, Kotaku.

Another reboot!? I loved the critically unsuccessful one with the lights and Elika (or was it Erika)…

Controversy inc, when did we have BLACK princes in PERSIA I will never know. Even slavery as a whole has never been practiced by Persians so I don’t really know what sort of twisted Persian mythological adoption is this? And as usual the buildings are very Saracen not Persian. When will they ever learn?

I have nothing against color but I have many things against common ignorance.

Around the same time Persians became white. You know, with Jake Gyllianol (Yeah I don’t care to fix that). It’s also like how Asians become white in localized films i.e Fist of the NorthStar live action movie. Atleast finding a black person in Persia wouldn’t be far fetched seeing how slavery wasn’t the only way people from a culture were able to be implemented into another.

@1 the only thing that bothers me about that game, and yes its elika, is that the DLC that explained the ending is not for PC. =/

That’s a terrible screenshot, and proof they have no idea what made original or sands of time special, the only 2 pop worth a damn.

PoP was awesome, Two thrones was a good game. Anything after that was boring.

Loved the 2008 Prince of Persia reboot, but I doubt a sequel will ever be made for it, seeing as how it bombed at retail. Whatever that screenshot turns out to be, hope Ubisoft holds it off until next-gen.
