Sony hasn’t “hit the spot” with killer Vita software yet, but it’s coming, says Gara

SCE UK boss Fergal Gara has said the best is yet to come with Vita, and the holidays should prove to be a boon for the handheld, what with all the games coming out during the period.

Speaking MCV, Gara said: “We would love it to be selling more and we intend to make it sell more and help it sell a lot more. The feedback from many consumers who’ve got their hands on it is positive – so that’s a very good start.

“The key thing for the rest of the year is the key software drive for the console so as we look towards September, LittleBigPlanet, that really is taking the concept on another level because of the Vita functionality,” he said. “And of course the other key big third party IPs – Call of Duty, FIFA, Assassin’s Creed – will do tremendous things for the Vita.

“So it’s our job now to take that strength of software and give people more reasons to buy.”

Gara admitted Sony hasn’t quite “hit the spot with the killer software just yet,” but he has “every reason” to think it will happen in the next few months, and Sony will be working alongside the likes of Activision and Ubisoft to ensure there’s a reason the consumer will wish to add Vita to their collection.

Interesting how they’re counting on third-party software, and more importantly Western game franchises. I know Type-0 might be coming, but what else?

Where’s the rumored Heavenly Sword 2? What about a Syphon Filter sequel that was rumored as well? I’m sure an Uncharted sequel is in the works. Bring back Crash Bandicoot. Localize Trails in the Sky 2 and 3. Localize the new Ys game that was made specifically for the Vita. What happened to Killzone?

Come on Sony, you have the games :’(

I was *this* close to buy the vita when it launched, but I then I checked what was beyond the launch window, and it basically was nothing. So I figured I’d wait and see. Well what has happened? It still is nothing out there. The launch lineup was great, but they really should have had a plan to follow that up. In that case they would have had a winner. Now the future of vita looks a bit uncertain.

They need one major game release per month, excluding summer months and december. If they can pull that off, starting with AC, then they might be able to salvage this.

Atleast announce some games in production and create some hype!

Unfortunately a naruto game wouldn’t bring people to vita. They need COD!

@7 No, what Vita needs is P4 The Golden, coming october, plus the Assassin’s Creed Liberation, and if you must, buy MGS HD Collection that is already out…
